So zeonhost.com offers 7.95 / 250Mb / 8GB xfer if I remember right.
Palm versa has a 9.95 plan with 250 mb / 8gb i think
zeonhost SEEM* at a glance to have everything.
palmversa seem to have everything too minus backup - boo.
---
I am after something CHEAP to run a hardware review site. Zeonhost has really nice features and price for one thing plus the nightly backup
NOW according to the guys on IRC, they say this... they see 5 people every day who complain about their webhost in that their support is terrible, they kick them out, outages, etc.
They say: There's never a free meal.
So why exactly are these hosts so cheap? There must be a reason behind it. Lack of support? Bandwidth CAP? There must be something that makes them different from other hosts.
I like to compare Site5.com that has very good feedback to these two hosts.
- What are the differences?
- What is it that they aren't telling us...?

OK. This is what I found out so far about them.
The review:
For zeonhost, I have to say they are very strict and secure about things. For telnet/SSH access, they require a PhotoID of you. I had a long talk with one of their representatives. He gave very good reponses, detailed and honest the way I looked at it. At present, they have just 4 clients so I would think such support is possible. However, I also found out that their shopping cart doesn't work but they are working on getting one soon.
As for palmversa, ok, first I must admit, for live support / consultation, I must give thumbs up to both companies for that. palmversa seems more "easy" with things but he doesn't give you precise details. Some things he doesn't seem to want to answer and give a direct response. I don't want to go into details on this forum. The one and only thing I hate when conversing with people is when you ask a question, they don't give you an answer. If they are busy, they should at least say so. This is where conversation broke up. 1 hour later, he went offline without a reply. Assuming I'm going to make them my webhost and I'm going to be ignored this way, it's going to cause a lot of problems. But again, I must give plus to them for flexibility + live support (just not ignoring).
So, not exactly everything is for free as you can see... I must say they are cheaper than most other hosts but not perfect when they can be. There's no such thing as a free meal.
The question:
I like to know tho, are there any other hosts out there who offer something like 100-200mb, 10+ GB bandwidth for 10 dollars?
These guys seem like the only ones who do it so far.

Of course, among the hosting companies you can find a few with offers like unlimited bandwidth for $10.
But most of such companies don't perform quality services. For example, your site may be down during a long period :)
Some companies can change conditions without notification. And the worst thing is what the company may be closed suddenly.
Maybe it will be better to pay more money and you will be sure that your site is always available? :)
And always remember, you get what you pay for :)

Try doing searches right here in the forum on those companies, and see what past postings come up.
You might also want to look in the offers forum, some run specials for forum visitors.
As always, so you wont be sorry later, check your potential host out!
good luck :D

you get what you pay for
i hear this so often. i wish it were true. with many hosting companies that's not what you get. (i.e. CIJoke)
sometimes i wonder if hosting my own server would be such a bad idea.
E-mail me at sales@palmversa.com if you would have any questions, because I don't remember what e-mail you are talking about.
I don't remember being offline for an hour, but if I did sorry then.
My humanclick does freeze sometimes so maybe that was it.
If tell me who you are maybe I can remember it.
I noticed your ICQ number and we talked yesteday. I believe I replied to you last and you then never answered to me.

Of course I did. I never received a reply but maybe something messed up in the middle. Nevermind that, it's OK.
