How can I offer virtual server to my clients, so that they can make changes in almost every aspect of their web space environment and also I can limit the processing power, memory use etc., so that other users are in no way affected by changes or malfunctioning of a particalur virtual server on the server.
There are so many big players offering virtual servers.
Let's see if any of u gurus have answer to this ?

I'm not an expert on this one, but the only one that I've heard that can do this is Ensim. I'm told that with Ensim you can actually run multiple "virtual" versions of linux on each box. Each site can be their own "virtual dedicated" server and you can limit the memory, cpu etc. that they can have.

Look up on Freshmeat.net "user space linux" that should find you some information.

Check out FreeVSD... these guys are truly amazing. Tim and the gang at Idaya put out a truly amazing (GPL'd!!!) product. I'm currently setting my hosting service up based on this product -- and aside from some kernel tweaks to provide for process/memory throttling, they pretty much have what you need. From what I understand, they'll be distributing a CD soon that will REALLY ease installation for folks like yourself.
Oh, FreeVSD is located at http://www.freevsd.org
Oh, and FreeVSD is FREE. (I guess it's in the name, but I wanted to be clear about that).

Technically possible, but only if you're prepared
1) To run the gauntlet of the Cobalt T&Cs or invalidate your warranty/support.
2) To do some tweaking - Cobalt run their own distro of Linux, and since freeVSD is virtualising the OS in a non-VM fashion then some effort may be required to get everything working properly.
IMHO I'd avoid trying to get freeVSD up and running on Cobalt and get some proper hardware ;)
