On the first day of christmas, my family gave to me - a nice new dvd player (Thats all I got folks)...
Anyways, I finally got a dvd player... you heard me, this is my first one - I have never owned any object, tool, etc. that can run dvds (Besides a dvd drive in my computer, which I never used for dvds).
Well, since I have a dvd player - I was thinking about buying a dvd-BURNER... I found a really nice, $109 one at tigerdirect - burns dvd-r, dvd-rw, dvd+r, dvd+rw, cd-r, cd-rw... But I was curious - how do videos work, when burning to dvd? Do you have to strip them of all codecs, recode them as MPEG-1? How big does that make them (I.e. If I had a 150mb video, encoded in DiVX, how big would it be in the format dvd-players can read?). What about the nice little menu most DVDs have? You can program/make those in dvd-burner software, right? (Sorry, complete newbie to DVDs of any kind... All I know is what I've found on the net, and what I've seen on TV).
Anyways, Happy Holidays to all, I hope everyone got what they want... And thanks in advanced to anyone that could help me through my woe, since I have NO dvds I can play... And currently, there is not one single movie/anime I even remotely want to see, released in the US (i.e. -I'm using my dvd burner to burn them to disc, THAN watch them).
