View Full Version : What is the difference between this and spam?

I was just wondering what the difference is between these email list services like http://www.webtrafficemarketing.com and the spam messages I receive? Even with the opt out in the messages wouldn't these kind of services be considered generators of spam? Wouldn't such bulk emailings be spam as it has been defined on the forum, yet I see pleny of these companies still about even with the recent US legislation?

That should be http://www.webtrafficmarketing.com/main.htm and they claim this is spam free. How could this be?

I don't know this particular company. However, the general problem with even opt-in lists is that (1) the people receiving forget they opted in, (2) the people opted into something but didn't realize the scope and degree of messages they would get, or (3) they didn't truly opt-in.

Unfortunately, complaints from those who believe they were spammed/didn't opt in can cause you the same problems as if they were randomly spammed.

You mean I really opted in to all those mailing lists about body part enlargement? Damn, I'd better go see a doctor about this amnesia -- no, wait, I'll just buy some memory enhancing herbal extracts, that should do the trick!

It can't, and they lie, often, and you will get spam complaints from using this, just about can guarantee it. If you didn't compile the list of emails yourself complete with double opt in you have no way of knowing and you'll almost for sure gain some spam complaints.

Spammers are known to lie. What makes them not print up a lie like that? Spam is nothing but crap as we all know it.

Why don't they spam me a useful link like the paris hilton sex video link that goes somewhere that actually has it.

It's all about money. Send you a link. Say it is a link to whatever program, movie, etc and have it pop-up money making scripts like crazy...

Let me put it to you this way. Round up say 1000 people who have sent out spam. ie. the same message to 100,000 people unauthorized. Let's focus on the root here, the people which are at the absolute root here.

Strip them naked. March them from 100street in NYC to Village.

Hang them, wait 1hr, throw them on bonfires, let the whole world film the whole event beginning to end. Stream on every major site in the world. Warn that anyone who sends out spam or uses spam services will be next.

I suspect spam would be reduced.

does anyone concur?

Bleading heart liberals would never allow that to happen.. You could brutally murder a school bus full of children and some liberal judge or liberal organization would fight for your rights to live and not serve the death penelty let alone allow a sentance of public torture.

So I some how doubt any such rules would ever be implied on spammers.

Replace the word "opt-in" with "bullsh-t". Then you've corrected their spelling error on the page, and read it again :D
