C.P 12-25-2003, 04:46 PM How come dedicated host like Servermatrix doesn't allow Urchin on Cpanel/WHM while DedicatedNow do allow Urchin on Cpanel/WHM? inteltechs 12-25-2003, 05:07 PM I belive that you can submit a ticket to SM and request urchin for free. C.P 12-25-2003, 05:23 PM I tried that. But they said that they can't do it cause it might wreck CPanel and WHM. I have no idea why they would say that. amusive.com 12-25-2003, 09:56 PM No idea why they say this either, because Urchin and CPanel have been working fine for some time now. FHDave 12-25-2003, 11:03 PM I am more curious to know how come they can offer Urchin for free ... Steven 12-25-2003, 11:12 PM one thing i dont like about sm is they are punks about stuff like this, i rather have it mess up and fix it, its not like they do anything to fix it anyways unless u pay for managed support darkpunk99 12-25-2003, 11:13 PM Originally posted by FHDave I am more curious to know how come they can offer Urchin for free ... DedicatedNow offers it for free. They got a great licensing deal - which is an extra $900 saved. I was considering purchasing it when DN announced they worked out a deal and whom to email for the free license. sailor 12-25-2003, 11:54 PM it works fine. and there are several companies offering it for free now including ev1, dedicated now, and us as well as a couple of others. Aussie Bob 12-25-2003, 11:58 PM Originally posted by FHDave I am more curious to know how come they can offer Urchin for free ... They buy a huge volume licence, and recoup the $$$ in increased sales etc, with offerring Urchin for free. Or that's the plan at least. :D CrazyTech 12-26-2003, 12:03 AM Yep. :D You'd be suprised the prices of things if you purchase in bulk. I'm very sure that they're making more than plenty from the free Urchin offering. C.P 12-27-2003, 01:45 PM It wouldn't be because of Redhat 3 Enterprise would it? Is Urchin 5 compatible with Redhat 3? UmBillyCord 12-27-2003, 02:20 PM Originally posted by FHDave I am more curious to know how come they can offer Urchin for free ... Dave, anyone can do it. The licensing is called Enterprise and it is $5000/mo for unlimited use and unlimited servers per DC. This is how these guys do it. It is funny when these DCs talk about a "deal they worked out". :) |
