How come dedicated host like Servermatrix doesn't allow Urchin on Cpanel/WHM while DedicatedNow do allow Urchin on Cpanel/WHM?

I belive that you can submit a ticket to SM and request urchin for free.

I tried that. But they said that they can't do it cause it might wreck CPanel and WHM. I have no idea why they would say that.

No idea why they say this either, because Urchin and CPanel have been working fine for some time now.

one thing i dont like about sm is they are punks about stuff like this, i rather have it mess up and fix it, its not like they do anything to fix it anyways unless u pay for managed support

DedicatedNow offers it for free. They got a great licensing deal - which is an extra $900 saved. I was considering purchasing it when DN announced they worked out a deal and whom to email for the free license.

They buy a huge volume licence, and recoup the $$$ in increased sales etc, with offerring Urchin for free. Or that's the plan at least. :D

Yep. :D You'd be suprised the prices of things if you purchase in bulk. I'm very sure that they're making more than plenty from the free Urchin offering.

It wouldn't be because of Redhat 3 Enterprise would it? Is Urchin 5 compatible with Redhat 3?

Dave, anyone can do it. The licensing is called Enterprise and it is $5000/mo for unlimited use and unlimited servers per DC. This is how these guys do it.

It is funny when these DCs talk about a "deal they worked out". :)
