I just replied to a thread and Steve-VST felt the need to post "Nearly an 11 month old thread, I think it's time we close it." Well who cares when it started if the last post was just several weeks ago and much has changed -- the script all of them lauded now has the author taking the money and running without notice. I updated the situation explaining what a few others were confused about.

What I'd like to know is why do a number of people here feel the need to play administrator and express their expert opinion and why is there a need to overadministrate too and listen to these clownish remarks? Is this the same feeling of importance like needing to run the grill at the family cookout? Perhaps giving the directions to the driver in the car when the driver knows where he/she is going?

Give us all a break. Now you are compelling me to start a whole new thread (so someone can search through several rather than one) because of great forum admin wisdom. I'll tell you this much -- the more you administrate the more users feel like there is self-serving editing, bias, and censorship going on whether or not there is. This is a new thread. I hope it too isn't closed or deleted because I'm expressing my opinion and suggestion.

This thread isn't likely to be closed. However, not addressing your specific complaint, there is a need for not only the moderators and guides but everyone to do their part to keeping this a good board. Now, old threads being reopened is a problem. Unfortunately, many do not look at the date and don't realize the age of some of the posts, as it pops right back to the top. This has been discussed and hopefully the administrators of the board will implement some form of solution.

Frankly, I would prefer to close threads after a period...maybe six months or so. Then, in this case, you could have started a new thread and you could have referenced the old if you wanted.

Now, as to your specific post in question, I also feel a new thread would have been appropriate. However, I probably wouldn't have closed the one you posted in, since their really is no clear policy.

As to your reaction, you are greatly overreacting. Also, it is inappropriate to come here and criticize a specific moderator. The correct channel is to email moderators@webhostingtalk.com. Moderators have to make a lot of decisions. Some we will agree with, some we will not. However, they deserve all the respect in the world, because you can't imagine what they deal with on a daily basis, nor what this board would become without their excellent work.

Now, a bit harsher remark...They aren't "playing administrator" and there is no call for terming their remarks as "clownish". You need to learn to deal with decisions you don't like more professionally. Disrespecting the staff here is inappropriate. If you have an issue, discuss it in private. If you don't like the overall way the board is run, then go somewhere else.

Because the thread was in "Other Offers and Requests", nobody was offering or requesting anymore, and I figured you didn't realize the date of the post back in February. Discussions of companies usually don't take place in these types of threads, so if you had a complaint, there's quite a collection of forums northern of the Advertising forums that it would have been better suited for.

Also, if I close something and you really think it needs to be opened, or that I missed something, you can always either report the post or just PM me. I'm human, and we all make mistakes from time to time.

Agreed. Perhaps we can be a little less terse since it doesn't come off quite right. You can delete this thread if you want. Point made.
