I have an IIs 4.0 server in winnt 4.0

Whenever i try to stop or start the W3 service it says

the service does not respond to the control function.

This happens only when i try to stop and start service , otherwise it is serving pages perfectly,

What do i do here, is there any special program or file responsible for the same that i upload/ update to start the working of the same through control panel services section

It seems a lots of people have IIs problems these days

One of our colo users had this problem as well.
What i did to fix it i amnot 100% sure.. :)

I just went installed all the patchs from MS for Windows 2000 and it seemed to fix it's self.. I am not sure if you can do that on NT 4.0 but thats all i had to do in windows 2000 and it seemed to fix its self.. :)

What patches had u installed, Service pack + codeworm ??

Where i can get list of patches available for the winnt 4.0 server
I already have sp 6a installed with codeworm and nimda hotfix in place,

The internet service manager however opens and i can add more sites to the server. Wonderig if it there would be a problem to keep it as it is , because if i reinstall sp 6a then again i would have to reboot before doing anything else or putting other patch and what if nimda attacks during that boot

I hope i am clear here

I am also not in front of my box , it is with my isp and i dont have physical access
