i havent ever seen any charts or reports on this kind of thing, but people generally tend to stay inside during the winter months, and since they dont have anything else to do they start up a site.
At least that is what is happening to us.
In my experience, right now, you're in the middle of a peak.
I notice that December/November through to March is very active.

So far we've experienced huge amounts of sales in October-December but come Christmas humble jumble sales have dropped right down. We're expecting sales to pick up over Feb-May in 2004.

When the weather turns cold people spend more time online.

The worst time for sales is during the summer when the high school kids get their holidays and become the CEO/President of their web hosting business and saturate the market with their $1 hosting plans......
The best time for sales is about 4 months later when the CEO/President has to go back to school and has their computer privelages revoked by their parents so they concentrate on their homework. :)

i so agree, there are so many kids out there trying to make a buck on their berly running servers selling nickle for 100000gb transfer plans then they all of a sudden disappear out of thin air. Sales do well in the winter months then die and then come back, well thats been in my experience anyways

It is very hard to make an accurate estimate as to peek periods. From
my experience, as both an advertiser and hoster over the years, the
best time is Nov to mid-Dec. This was also a set of record-breaking
days over here at midPhase. However, from experience after Jan 5th
all the way up to early April is very good as well.
However, it also depends on your market. Web services, especially of
a technical nature such as hosting, are slow during Holidays and tax-season.
Who knows -- for some people it may be great right now. For others,
it may be slow. It depends on how you market yourself and how your
marketing changes throughout the year.
