In shot words, he was offering hosting to our customers.
Is this honest? Sorry, I was a bit upset when I read it
SoftWareRevue 09-25-2001, 05:50 PM No offense, but I don't really understand your question.
Are you saying you're upset that this client used his allocated bandwidth?
Or are you saying, you're upset that he is hosting your clients?
How is he hosting your clients?
I really don't understand . . . . . sometimes AnIdiot still
Dylan 09-25-2001, 05:54 PM He said, Candy said he wants to host Jedito's clients.
Jedito, to be honest with you we'll have to know what blah blah blah means.
I'm guessing that maybe he thinks you're the tech of the domain or something like that and is unaware that you are actually a host. But by reading your post closer, that is not the case. So yeah, I'm just as lost as AnIdiot :D
Jedito 09-25-2001, 06:00 PM LOL sorry
I'm upset because another company is sending emails to our customer offering hosting.
Hello,
I represent CandidHosting.com. I noticed when I tried to access http://www.xxxxxxx***********/ I got
Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

Depending on the amount of bandwidth you use, I am able to offer prices as low as $100 per meg. The beauty about our bandwidth, is it's redundancy. With large fiber commitments
coming in from, UUNet, Digex, Level3, EPiK, Time Warner, and AT&T, this ensures that every customers main concern is addressed, "zero downtime" down time is not an option. All
hosting companies must have the basics, redundant a/c, redundant electric, backup generators, etc. Our center is manned on site, by fully trained 24 hour tech support. If you should need
other programming or advanced support, we have techs on staff that can help you. The things that makes hosting companies different, is their connectivity, support and price. We are able
to offer the best of all worlds.
Just a reminder, we specialize in the transfer of large networks. We will build the machines needed and supply at our expense and transfer everything over. You sites and entire network will
experience ZERO DOWNTIME. We have accomplished this for many customers and we can do the same for you.
Please send me your thoughts,
Best regards,

SoftWareRevue 09-25-2001, 06:05 PM Looks like :spam: to me :cartman:
JeremyL 09-25-2001, 08:38 PM You sell a service and thats how sales get made by people who go out prospecting. Sounds like they have a good sales team to me. They saw a site/company in need of the service they offer and they are trying to capitalize on it. It's the American way and what makes the money go round.
As far as being spam. Let's please not get into this argument AGAIN. It's not spam as in bulk email. It's a sales call via a letter.
Chicken 09-25-2001, 08:50 PM That added bit of blah blah blah *really* helped as without it I was thinking this fellow was reselling for you (maybe not telling you he was reselling, but it wouldn't really matter), and wondered why the site he gets from you is down.
He may have thought your upstream cut *you* off, but like I've said before, if you are in the industry of web hosting, you are going to get random offers for web hosting related services, and although many consider that spam, I really don't.
It isn't wrong to email someone and for all you know he just happened upon your site and copy/pasted the sales pitch. I wouldn't be bothered much by it personally, but if you are, you can contact him/the company and let them know you aren't interested in getting the offers, or report him, etc.
MCHost-Marc 09-25-2001, 09:10 PM I'm upset because another company is sending emails to our customer offering hosting.
Thats what is called 'competition'. :D Every host our there is your competitor and every host will try to get your clients.
SoftWareRevue 09-25-2001, 09:16 PM I guess SPAM was too harsh a word.
I would tend to agree with everyone that thinks it is more like marketing.
I wouldn't be bothered by receiving it. It's a heck of a lot better than those breast implant offers I've been getting so many of
Bogdan 09-25-2001, 10:20 PM Sounds like a very desperate competitor.
If most people are like me, then you have nothing to worry about. I never sign up for any company that spams me.
All spam is nothing more than a typical scam. [TM] :D
