hello,
I would like to know, if somebody can help here, how is going the paying process in many of the hosting companies here, with a credit card.
I want to know how it is going, because if eventually i'm not satisfied with the host or there is some another problem(like fraudelent host)and if it is monthly payments, should i just stop paying ??? or what's happening then ? Should i tell them that i want to leave them. Everybody talk in this forums about a refund, but i don't see any point of that if i pay monthly, right ?? or no ??
hm......
what is usually the case for this ?
i hope u ppl understand the questions ;)
thanx in advance for ur answers

Contact the host and request a cancellation - if you don't, odds are they're not going to notice you're not using the account, at least right away. Then you keep getting billed. This is especially the case with any larger hosts - there's simply not enough man-hours to check every account all the time.
Some hosts will refund for time not used (x weeks of the month, or whatever). It all depends on the host - ask that when you email them to cancel.

The best thing, in this kind of case, is to simply notify the host that you are leaving. Otherwise, if you just stop payment, and don't tell them, they have a valid claim for x amount of months/weeks. X being the number of days/weeks/months that you had not paid, but still had a live account.

Hi!
This is very true. No harm saying that you want to cancel if you are not happy rather than going after chargebacks and refunds.
Just cancel and stop all further payments.

ok thanks for your answers,
my exact question was:
what would happen, let say, if i purchased reseller pachage, and i am paying for it month by month. And after 3 month something huge happens and my site is offline most off the time. And i approach to hosting company and ask from them to cancel my account. Whas is then going on ? that i want to know? what is the complete timetable of happenings?
Would they cancel my accounts, would i be able to retreive everything from their servers, how long will past until they change and free up my domain name from their nameservers etc...
Also what i wanted to know, is, what if i ask for cenacalation, and they show up to be freudalaunt company, and they say "ok", and then take like 50 $ from my account or whatever. U know what I mean ?? What then? should I cancel my credit card (notice that i am not from USA so I woundnt be able to persue this matter trought the lawyers).
uh, ok !
I hope i cleared some things now.... Anyway big thanx for your response
cheers

That is why you should choose your host carefully and why some host that you think are too high, as you posted in another thread, are really cheap in the long run. They charge enough to stay in business and never do those sort of things to their customers.

the server or let's say the account belongs to you as you continue to pay. if you would like to end the service, you must backup your files and information and/or move somewhere else, before your service ends. i do not think it will be acceptable to give some days more to a hosting customer for moving the files after the service ends.
