View Full Version : HumanClick, LiveHelper No longer free!
I have been looking for an Instant Message system for my site such as HumanClick and LivePerson, but they seem to be no longer free!
Does anyone know of a good reliable service such as HumanClick and LivePerson, but free?

Thanks in advance!:D

LiveHelper.com didnt even send us an email to let us know they are now charging. I found that really annoying! I just found out one day because the software wouldnt work anymore. I then sent them an email telling them I wasn't very happy that they didnt let us know about the new changes, and I got an auto responce telling me i need to pay up, or check out. Nice customer service, no? More like deadhelper.com. Anyways, my point here is, that experience ( not the fact that they ask you to pay ) has made me decide to take my business elsewere.
lovelie 09-24-2001, 10:16 PM A free version of HumanClick is still available at Bravenet.
I've using it since I found out about it in this very forum. :D

rockergrrl 09-25-2001, 08:33 AM That's why I'm glad I won 6 months of free Groopz (http://www.groopz.com) hosting when I did! :)
Just wrapping up my site -- and then I'll be able to play around with it (they wanted my site done before they'd let me gain access to it).

I installed, and got a popup that said HumanClick free will be discontinued as of September 28. I would be interested to know if the BraveNet version continues to work after that date.
sammasati 09-25-2001, 01:47 PM I am not familier with these two PMs. How are they different from ICQ?

I was wondering the same thing:confused:

They are Live Chat interfaces.

ATTENTION HUMAN CLICK USERS:
You may have noticed that your Human Click service is/was showing a popup stating that the Human Click service would no longer be available as of September 28th, 2001.
That is not the case, this message appeared in your service in error. This message does not apply to the Bravenet Human Click service. Bravenet will continue to offer the free Human Click service as we have always done.
Your Human Click service will remain unaffected, and will continue to work normally after September 28th!

cabalstudios 09-25-2001, 06:35 PM Thanks for sharing m8 :)
Appreciated
TechnoHosts 09-30-2001, 06:28 PM Its only a onetime fee of 250 to upgrade. Why not upgrade? It sure beats paying their old fees of 39 and 89 dollars a month.
The BraveNet version seems dead to me. Bummer.
Well, nevermind :D
Noticed my BraveNet version not working (not showing up on page, not able to connect). So came here looking for some alternatives, then all of a sudden heard a ding sound and now HumanClick is working again. Maybe they were doing some maintenance or something... I dunno. BraveNet rawks! ;)

*BING* wrong.
Its 250 PER YEAR.
I'd upgrade if it was 250 onetime, but for 250 per year it'll be more of a consideration. What if they decide to up the prices NEXT year?
Zeon-Chris 10-02-2001, 11:56 AM After this whole HumanClick/Livehelper dilemma I just decided to write my own PHP script to do it. It's not that hard to do, the hardest part is notifying the operators of a new call :D, it only took about three hours to write the whole script.
Plus, when you write your own, you can put in canned responses and stuff and not have greedy companies charging you for the feature.

Sounds good :-)
You planning to release it Open Source GPL style? Or something else?
Zeon-Chris 10-02-2001, 03:09 PM Well I'm not sure if I have the time to release it at all... If I do I will do it open source, I made it to get away from the companies that charge, so why should I charge others :stickout? But, I'd have to rewrite the code to use templates etc, so I don't think I have the time right now...
That's the beauty of open source.. And if you don't have the time, all the more reason to release it! Let everyone else do the work for you. :)

Oh so true :) :) ;) :stickout :cartman:
Zeon-Chris 10-02-2001, 06:48 PM Heh, but still, I like to keep things professional. Plus I don't want someone to take advantage of the cons of open source, altering the script and taking credit for it (it has happened to me before :().
I'll tell you what, I'll release it. It will have templates etc. You can expect a release candidate of the script this Friday at zeonhost.com (I'll put it under the Web Design section).

Any news on this - It sounded pretty interesting...

Zeon-Chris 10-10-2001, 08:06 PM Yeah, sorry for the delay, it will definitely be released this weekend, I've been doing a lot of work on our company's hosting wizard this past week. I'd say I should be able to put it up on Saturday Afternoon. I'm working on an administration center and making it fully template driven, since right now all administration changes are done manually in phpMyAdmin.
jolly 10-20-2001, 02:15 AM Which one is good Humanclick or Livehelper?
Is there any company that still offers live help solution without there banner on the window.
Fremont Servers 10-20-2001, 03:12 AM I prefer HumanClick, but it costs a lot. :D
WesternMedia 11-04-2001, 12:14 AM Any chance of that software release. Many of us frustrated x-humanclickers would love to try it.
Please release whatever you have???

*lol* Actually I was just revisiting this thread yesterday and considered a post almost exactly the same as yours :D
We're still using humanclick but would prefer an 'in-house' solution. In the recent past I've personally become a little less than impressed by third party solutions for a range of things. At least way, if it went down I'd only have my own ass to kick :)

zentek 11-04-2001, 01:17 PM Humanclick still operates... but from what I hear, not much longer.
Either pay up or move out... is what they are saying. I think they are planning on keeping the free servers operating till the end of the year, then they get the chop.
So some alternative better come around soon... :(
