I have a Logitech MouseMan Optical (two lasers). But it hurts my hand after long usage.

I am looking into these two. Can anyone comment on them?

Any others you would recommend?

Need something very ergonomical and comfortable. My right hand hurts and my left one is fine because I use the mouse with my right.

I'm also getting a wrist pad. But it's not my wrist that hurts, it's the top of my hand and the joints from clicking a lot.

I have a logitech optical mouse, quite a basic one, yeah i guess after very long periods it does start to ache a bit :(

The two you're looking at though, seem a little weird  i guess the problem is, you'll never really know if a mouse is going to be ideal for you untill you've already been using it for a while, by which time you would have already paid for it.

I wish i could comfortably use both hands, then i could just swtich round every so often. :cartman:

Have you considered a Trackball? Less wrist movement!

Maybe it's not the mouse but simply that you're spending too much time on the computer. Any mouse will do that

I just bought a gel wrist rest and a Microsoft Optical Desktop Pro for like $77.

You could say that I spend too much time. But even if I take a day or two off, as soon as I come back I feel the pain in my right [mouse] hand again. Even after the first 5 minutes of use. It's not really the wrist but the top of my hand and the joints between my fingers. It feels much better when I hold something cold like a cup of ice water.

azo, piece of advice, take a good time off, and go see your doctor about it. It could be some form of RSI. And for a mouse you should go to a specialist if it's real important to you.

And think about it, good quality mouses still cost a lot of money.

I also have what you are talking about. I just felt it, but only after eg 4 hours of continuous mouse use.

I myself have a logitech wireless mouseman optical. It is a comfortable mouse and it fits perfectly for my right hand.

I do suggest this mouse however, it costs A LOT but it is VERY comfortable and easy to use (I worked with it some time ago and I liked it). The difference you feel, especially after some time of use, but note that the mouse I have is also comfortable.

I do advice against a trackball howver since you say you have pain in your fingers. A trackball is good if you are talking about wrist movement but for fingers it CAN be worse.

Hope you take my advice into consideration.

See a doctor -- now!
You've got Repetitive Stress Injury -- RSI.
This isn't something that will go away. It will only get worse until it becomes crippling and takes away the use of your hand forever.
This is not a joke or an exaggeration.
You have got to get medical attention.
A common RSI is caused by moving the wrist to the side from the keyboard to the mouse. This is a cause of DeQuervain's Syndrome, an inflamation of the nerve/tendon that runs from the index finger to the arm and another nerve that runs down the side of the thumb. It causes a lot of pain and after awhile the index finger feels like it's frozen.
I have a serious problem with this and other RSIs. I've spent a lot of time in doctor's offices on workman's comp.
I've gotten relief with two things (in addition to therapy, painkillers, steroids, etc).
1. I switched to a track ball and keep it in front of the keyboard. I have minimal movement of my wrist to go from keyboard to mouse.
2. I also use a Wacom Intuous II "soft grip" pen and tablet. I was a beta tester for Wacom on this. It is truly amazing. Even on my very worst days I can use it comfortably.
One more thing you need to do. Go to Walmart or whatever and pick up a wrist brace -- the kind that are sized with metal and stiffeners in them. Don't use it at the keyboard. Wear it at night when you're sleeping. It keeps the wrist in a neutral position and really makes a difference. It's surprising how effective it is.
Please don't underestimate the seriousness of this problem.

Get a Logitech Trackman Marble FX on Ebay or someplace (here's one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2774173951&category=11193) ).

They're discontinued, but were so great they still sell for nearly-retail prices on Ebay, after being used for years.

I've had mine about 4 years, and haven't seen anything else yet that can compare.

MX700 is the same thing as the MX500. I don't need the wireless/rechargable part of it.:cartman:

But that is what makes it so cool. Imagine playing a game that only requires the mouse but wait you had to much coffee...

Run to the bathroom which is right down the hall and you can still see your monitor. Keep playing while dropping the kids off.

Boy I need sleep.
