Hi,

Just a quick note to let you all know what Donhost have just done to us.

The day we returned from our holiday we had an email stating one of our accounts was going to be deleted, the reasons we believe are the account was using 150mb of disk space. In fairness they gave us two days notice.

My partner rang Donhost and because of the circumstances of us just returning we asked if we could add another few days onto this deadline. The reason for this was to allow us to find an acceptable alernative for the customer. They said yes "no problem".

This afternoon the account was deleted without any further warning or notification.

Looks like we have reached that point we were warned about where we are getting to big to be allowed "unlimited diskspace". Bear in mind we are still using less than 10gb of our 50gb monthly bandwidth allowance.

Its a good job we have already started the search for our dedicated server!

Just thought people may like to know.

Thanks.

I'm concerned since i offer more than 150 mb to some customers, but i'd like to ask if you have made certain that the issue for deleting the account maybe the content itself??

Anyway, thanks for the info.

I've seen this happen to a few people now. Someone asked me on another forum about 'cheap deals' and I mentioned it's usually not as good as it sound, mentioning DonHost in a slightly unflattering way. Someone posted after me that it was irresponsible of me to post such things (both as a host and a moderator of that forum), so what can you do... My *personal* opinion is they are a shocking organization, who promise nothing near what they deliver. At best people seem to play off the problems and downime as 'something that's ok for the price'

To quote 'Whitnal and I' - "That wouldn't wash with Jeff"

Granted people looking for windows hosting on the cheap see places like Donhost as somewhere to get started, for a small outlay, and some cases state that they've never had an issue with them at all. Well good for them.. I see a large list of people with serious issues, and wouldn't ever put any faith in their services.

Before I get flamed yet again... if you like 'em, good for you. I personally see them as high risk, and wouldn't go near them.

I would totally agree with this,

We were a reseller 6 months ago, and while they are good to get started i would not risk running a business with them due to their random actions that they take and abuptness of their email response

Again, as greg mentioned, If you like them then thats up to you but personally i was glad to leave

if you can afford it, running your own server is much better
