I signed up with SM less than 3 weeks ago. Until now, the server is still not working properly and the tech is not able to trace the exact problem. Although I do like SM (if the server works), I think I have to start finding another way out.

My life is nothing but a nightmare lately. First, it messed up my one-day hotel stay with my wife (which we got from a lucky draw). Now it is spoiling my next holiday tour.

I sincere hope the tech will fix my problem soon. But at the same time, I would like to know who provides:

- Pentium IV 2.4~2.8, 512~1,024Mb RAM, 500~1,000Gb monthly transfer at a rate competitive to SM.
- Managed server & good support

*** No resellers, please.

Many providers if not all will offer you this, of course the price will be somewhat different, I would guess you will find providers that can offer this type of plan between $150-$500/month.

Check with Simpli.biz or tailoredservers.com to name a couple, the list could go on and on.

Check out:

http://www.simpli.biz/
http://www.tranxactglobal.com/ (Fully managed to my knowledge.)

All are great providers and will serve you well. :D

As usual, there's a difficulty in recommending providers because you haven't defined 'managed'. How managed should the server be? Rackspace or ServInt seems to be the choice if you need really really full management. Otherwise, SM with a Titanium Management Plan. You must give more description of your requirements to the provider/server, before any good recommendations can be given.

FDC servers show unmetered 10 Mbit connection and 100Mbit port.

Just for my own curiosity, Is 10Mbit = 10 Mbps or same way 100Mbit = 100 Mbps?

Most 10 Mbps unmetered connections that I have seen are about 350/month. But FDC prices are 149 to 199, thats why I am asking the above question.

Thanks.

heh there burstavle to 10mbit and 100mbit but ur on a pipe with alot of other people and your chances of seeing those speeds well i never did on fdc. the difference with the palces that charge $350+ for there 10mbit is most them put you on a full 10mbit line and its yours fully and you can actually pull 10mbit.

also for closest managed server to price as server matrix id suggest tranxactglobal had some good times with them and rock solid stability.

You may want to check out Nocster if you're looking for some management and the same price range as SM. Simpli is very good from what I've heard, but with 500-1000GB transfer, their rate won't be in the same price range of SM. Tailoredservers.com is located in ThePlanet's Datacenter, and is very good in terms of customer service, upgrade costs, and speed, though their servers may cost a little bit more than SM. DV2/Transxactglobal/GNAX also would be a good choice for what you're looking for.

You can find almost the same thing at Nocster. Managed.com is not what I'd even consider "real" basic management - They're more like "business hours only basic management". Managed.com hasn't been around long enough to tell how they'll turn out in the long run.

I assume you're looking for servers in the $120-$150 range - If you want a managed server, contact Nocster or ServInt - You'll have to contact wht@servint.com to get a server in the bandwidth range you're looking for around the price you're looking for from ServInt - Mention that you heard about them on WHT.

You may want to check out LiquidWeb.com - Their latest offer is at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=217784 , and the Athlon 2500 deal looks like it would be just in your range - If you don't need the 1GB RAM and the 2nd HD, they may be willing to give you a better deal (Don't take my word on this, though).

Hope this helps,
Josh
