Since we really can't map multiple domains to a single account, i'd like to know on how do you go about monitoring the usage of a single client with multiple domains and likewise, accounts with sub-domains?

Is the only way for a sub-domain to have its own folder to create a separate account for it?

You can also create a domain forwarding account and forward it to the subdirectory- it isn't a great alternative, but it works.

I really like the look of DonHost's reseller package, could anyone who has experience with it tell me what they are like to deal with and if the package is any good, looks great on 'paper'!
Thanks in advance,

Morgan H

Services is fine... but what gets me is the customer support...

Utter crud!

First of all they remove a customers site, no warning due to "copyrighted material" - yet none was found... the site WAS a fan site and had mp3's but were NOT the bands and he HAD permission.... no luck!

Second - at one poitn the insulted me when I was asking about getting a subdomain forwarded to an irc server. Calling IRC and its users a menace to the internet!

Any one know of companys with a similar deal?

Seem offer a similar deal, but use Win2000 (not FreeFSB)

http://www.seem.co.uk/hosting/reseller.asp

looks OK and is only £99.99 per annum, but you have to pay £10 per new domain or subdomain.
I was kind of thinking of getting a dedicated server instead, UK2.net looks ok, £25 seems scarily cheap........

I was also intersted in this deal but after a bit of research I wasn't so sure. Apparently they do offer you the servers for £25 a month but you have to pay in advance for at least 3 years!

Do a search at http://groups.google.com/ for more information about them.

I just double checked on the uk2.net website and they still do require you to sign up for 3 years!

If you do find anything worthwhile then let me know as I'm interested in getting a dedicated server also.

Neil

If no-one has recommended you to run a search on this forum for "Donhost" already I'd highly recommend you do it.

My comments regarding their service and the problems I experienced are pretty well documented. Sad to see that lessons have not been learned though.

I would recommend MCHost. They also offer unlimited domains on their reseller accounts, but unlike Donhost they give you a realistic amount of disk space and bandwidth.

Tech support is great with them -- I usually get a reply within a few minutes.

avara,

How long have you been using MChost?

Currently running now at 3 months (+) and whilst there have been teething problems owing to things like:
- changeover to an anonymous DNS system
- the upstream datacentre problems (that a lot of other hosts, with servers located there, have found in the past couple of months)
- my own dumbass, shoulda-known-better mistakes

... it's been well worth the move.

Support is very positive and they will respond with patience and professionalism. They also offered me a trial period which provided me with a very real sense of real life with Mchost.

Additional comments can be found on their own forum.

I only signed up with MCHost last month, so I guess you could say that I haven't been with them long enough to provide a truly objective review. That said, you really can't argue with friendly support that resolves issues in minutes. :)

Well I've been with them for a couple of months now...

Uptime is excellent, speed is excellent, facilities are excellent, as is value for money.

Support has been very prompt in responding to emails, but they do come across as people in a hurry not to be messed with...

I am very happy with the reseller package, which seems reliable and stable. At least I can sleep at night without wondering about sites going down...

A qualified A+ for now :-)
