Well here we go again...
If you've been following my other threads regarding 5SC (formerly Version12 - different owners) I am a very dissatisfied customer of theirs. Anyhow, after 2 weeks of downtime I finally said "fu*ck them" and went straight to a source and now I'm working directly with the upstream provider.
5 Star Communications was giving me the run around and in turn I had lost tons of business (at least $500 final tally at end of month) and at the end of the 2 weeks the service was still not restored...WHAT A JOKE!
They told me they were having "issues" with their upstream provider...well I called the upstream provider and their network was running fine. Evidentally, there was a contract dispute. So after doing some research I found out the problem. 5SC had not paid their provider to keep their network going. I believe the debt was in the thousands!
Another thread about Serverhost.com being down was very interesting. I was doing some traceroutes and look at this...
9 dv2-atl-core-backup-core-a.dv2.net (209.51.131.1) 20.151 ms 19.539 ms 20.065 ms

11 209.51.154.4 (209.51.154.4) 20.574 ms 20.560 ms 20.467 ms
This trace was to serverhost.com...

11 www.5sc.net (209.124.71.54) 27.834 ms 22.074 ms 24.598 ms
This trace was to www.5sc.net

I don't want to bash anyone's company, but 5SC
AND Serverhost.com were both down. I think there is a reason for this, possibly they are in the same datacenter? Possibly Jeff had issues with 5SC too? Who knows but something is up with these to companies...
I do not want to start a war here, but I am trying to be informative to other WHT members, and hopefully they will not go through what I did.

Paul Roberts
