i run a small website where we would like to end up posting articles about a specific manufacturer of cars, faqs about these cars, etc, research papers, how-tos.

we need a good CMS to make this neat and organized.

ideally the CMS should integrate well with phpBB and maybe gallery as well.

there are a ton of choices out there, what would you recommend. we are good programmers, we could write this from scratch, we could make somethng that doesnt QUITE work work well if we NEEDED to.

ill trust your opinions, at least to point me in the right direction.

BTW, OPEN SOURCE IS A MUST!

ALSO, any examples of sites like what i described for us to review and gather our thoughts about our direction would be helpful too.

you might want to try newspro. I think it can do this. I've only used it for basic news posting but it has a wealth of other features.
