Hi
We are looking to buy a server and we found a RaQ3 one but one question we had is does anyone know what the control panel is like.
We found a demo at http://demo.cobalt.com/raq3en/ is this what ours will look like and if so is there anyway to install a custom control panel on the server.
Thanks.

yep - thats it, I think you can put plesk on a RaQ3, not 100% sure, but the raq panel isn't so bad - it does use a lot of resources and the raq doesn't have too much in that department so make sure you have plenty of RAM

Hi
Would it be possible to put a custom contorl panel on a server as we would like to offer more features in like, like you said we could use plesk so is it possible to build a control panel for it or not?
Thanks.

I don't see why not, nothing stopping you installing a fresh OS and then putting anything on - building a custom control panel is another question :)

What is the point? This has been asked beofre and I fail to see the point of getting a box where the main feature *is* the control system, wiping it, and installing another system???
You are better off getting a more powerful box and installing plesk on it, if that's what you want to do.

Hi
All it is is that we dont like the design of the control panel and if the only way to change it is to make a custom control panel then thats what we would do. The reason its cobalt is its a good offer so thats why we are thinking about that server.
Thanks.

The point may be that a RaQ is often significantly cheaper than a more powerful box. By replacing the RaQ-specific stuff with other software you get a semi-powerful Linux box for a very small cost.
