Like say there was a service named BLANK and I called it BLANK MONITOR or some variant, and included BLANK in the domain name for the site to sell it on would there be any legal ramifications? I don't want to say the name of what I'm doing but I'm having a program written that will allow alot of people to check a service from their desktop instead of logging into their account every day to check totals.

It would likely constitute trademark infringement. You would need express written permission from the company to use their trademark - if they are of any size they will likely refuse it. You can mention their product name if you note that it is their trademark (registered or not).

I wouldn't do it - sounds like too much of a risk!

Well I checked www.uspto.gov and "adsense" isn't even a registered trademark yet and thats what I wanted to use. So do any of you have any other suggestions? adsense I don't think would be a problem would it?

Current Status: Newly filed application, not yet assigned to an examining attorney.
They just filed it, doesn't mean they hav ebeen granted a patent for it.
I worked there over the summer filing trademark patents and scanning them into the computer, you get everything from porn to underwear to surfboards. Was fun tho they need to get their management act together on the project I was working on cause it was a sweat shop literally.

Oh, I had not noticed that "Check Status" button before. I have been under the impression that the filing date is the only date that matters to wipo as long as it is live.

I would be very careful with doing this type of domain name. I had a friend who purchased serveral domain names with the word oracle in them and they got asked very quickly to remove the domain names. Check with the provider before you purchase anything or you may loose money or be in a law suite.
