View Full Version : Network Solutions
Hello,
I will have to renew one of my domains soon and am currently at Network Solutions. Although I did not have any troubles with them yet, I would like to know whether it would be a good idea to go to another one. I am worrying, since I read several complains about Network Solutions here. What about dotster.com? Thank you!
Alexander
TheOp 09-21-2001, 01:24 PM I use stargateinc.com. $8.85 for each year.
Aloha
if you only have one or a few
Dotster is still the best in my book
service is great and ther einterface is easiest to use
never had a prob with there interface not working or there credit card billing not working correct etc...
I also use Stargateinc.com they have had glitches now and again but are very good
also use Godaddy.com and they to are good but have had some glitches from time to time and I am moving off them for good because of this one to many times things have not worked.
so for best service and interface go with Dotster its a bit more but it is worth it.
you can transfer to dotster for 11.95 I think about $2-3 more than the others but there reg price is about $15.95 I think
but again welll worth it for trouble free hassle free they are great on the phone also.
if Price is an issue go with stargateinc or godaddy.com
stargateinc gives you more control than godaddy.
hope this helps ;)
Smear 09-21-2001, 01:56 PM I've tried dotster and godaddy. They're decent, but by far the best I've found is http://weblaunching.net . They charge $12/year for domains, whether they're new or a transfer, and they give you credit for whatever time you have left on your current registration. The place where weblaunching really beats these other guys is their interface. Everything can be updated in real time online. You can even transfer ownership without going through the hassle of snailmailing documents with signatures and so forth. I use them for ALL of my domains and I couldn't be happier.
winquest 09-21-2001, 02:04 PM Wish you luck in transferring your registrar, and my past experience with them tells me not to trust any confirmation they sent.

hmm dotster also gives you credit for time and ther interface is real time ??
I think most all are realtime excpet nic
not sure if you knew that or not
also if you want DNS service Stargateinc has that for free ;)
rather then a a extra charge
Well, money is not the issue at all. I think I could afford the $35 again for a year :). As I already mentioned, I did not have any troubles with Network Solutions yet. I am just thinking about switching, because some users complained here and I do not want to run into such troubles too (seeing my domain as unregistered,.....; had enough with some webhosters already :)).
So the question is probably, whether you would think it is wise to switch? And if yes, which of the 4 below?
Dotster (heard some good things about them)
Godaddy (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=21566 does not really encourage me :).....would I really have reasons to worry?)
Stargate (didnt they had problems recently?)
Weblaunching (dont know them)
Thanks for your help and time,
Alexander
TheOp 09-21-2001, 05:40 PM I use stargateinc.com, i haven't had any problems recently. I primarily use stargateinc.com, so I really can't vouch for the others.
I have a domain at NSI and never had troubles. The people having troubles are the ones who have domains at other registrars and trying to get their NS into NSI's database. Being a customer of NSI for many years, everything has always worked. The only downside is the support, which is slow. If you have a domain there and hardly make any modifications, then theres no reason to change. Why fix something if it's not broken right?

Actually I fully agree with you. One thing I would like, is when I could make modification "on the fly" (as with nic.cc).

JustinK 09-21-2001, 06:19 PM I say go for it and my vote goes for Dotster. All I've used since NSI and I haven't had any problems with my domains or their customer service.
