Ok, I am sick of virtual private performance and am looking to go dedicated. I am using cpanel right now.
I am a little weary about this due to not knowing what I am doing. :)
Is there a FAQ somewhere where I can learn how to set it up? Would cpanel make things easier in the long run to update software, etc.?
I am thinking of going with one from servermatrix.
Thank you.

A good start:
Reading how-to threads at this forum, forum.ev1servers.net, etc.
Server Matrix has their own forums, too: forums.servermatrix.com.
Reading through docs & forums at cpanel.net.
Pick up a few books on Linux administration. Check out linuxquestions.org -- plenty of info there.
There aren't many problems you could run into that haven't happened to someone else. Chance are pretty good that they posted their solution somewhere that can be found with google.com. Searching for exact phrases or error messages helps thin out the results.
What is a Shared SQL Server? And, why would it be an extra charge per month??
Thanks!

Thanks! You are not ready to go at it alone....clearly. Before you even consider a dedicated server, find someone to manage it for you and to help you with questions such as this.

@ Incognito/Anyone Else: (S)he probably wouldn't need someone to manage it if they used ServInt or RackSpace or the like, right?

No because they are managed solutions.
Servermatrix is not managed is it? I am smart enough to at least ask questions and was not feeling comfortable thinking I *could* manage it myself. :) I am in the engineering field by day, but am not your typical engineer who thinks they can do anything cause they are an engineer. ;)
I am paying about 120 bucks a month for what I consider erratic and crappy VPS performance. I have no trouble using CPanel and running it myself including doing command line restarts, etc. BUT, setting it all up to start with (DNS, blah blah) is a different story.

Going with servermatrix is a good idea, they have a great network and pretty good support.
