I am looking at MapQuest terms and conditons, and well, there are pages and pages of that stuff, so I am just wondering if anyone knows whether there is any legal reason that would prevent me from linking directly to some of their map images like this:
http://mq-mapgend.websys.aol.com/mqmapgend?MQMapGenRequest=FDR2dmwjDE%3byt29%26FDJnci4Jkqj%2cMMCJ%3aHOEvq%3bat50a1%3a%29ras14r%3a%26%40%24%3a%26%40y%3ag67%3ad67%3aTD%15JFE%3aHOHQJ%3ba t50a1%3a%29ras14r%3a%26%40%24%3a%26%40%24x9%40
<edit>
I know that above image will be broken for you, but I can easly work around that

I've seen it done before....
Doesn't mean that it's legal :D
But, I'm sure if you <a href> to MapQuest (which I would assume you'd do anyway to provide your users a way to look up how to get there without manual typing in your addy) I don't see how they would mind..

Thanks, by looking at MapQuest I see that if you use a href you cannot open it in a new window. I did not find any rules covering direct links to images. I would like to able to just popup image itself.

he's saying just save the image on your PC and have it available on your site. Not sure if this is legal as per the TOS of MpaQuest, but thats what he's saying

What I meant was rather than direct linking, which might get you in trouble for stealing bandwidth, simply put the image on your site.,

Thanks for suggestions, i guess i do need to take some time and study their TOC. I am considering this for over 5000 images.

Oh... For over 5000 images... I'd consider that stealing their content and more than likely illegal.
(I really don't they'd mind if you took one image and used it for a company or personal site but, 5000 images is taking the content that they created and using it)
