Can anyone recommend a company that will host my cgi chat program (GTChat) and my invision forum.
I would really like it to be UK based but I'll consider others. I have about £15/$20 per month to spend. 10Gb of transfer would be more than enough and allow me to grow, Although, I'm only using just over 2Gb at the moment. I really looking for reliable servers and helpful support, just incase I do have problems.
I've been searching hosting site's terms and conditions trying to find something, then searching on here but some feedback from happy customers would be nice.
Can somebody help me. :bawling:

Thanks folks,
I did have a look at jvds and they do look good and Rus seems very helpful but I don't think my linux knowledge is up to the job of managing my own server yet. Although I'm working on that. :o

For that price range you should be able to find a reliable UK hosting provider. You may wish to check with companies you are interested in before signing up with them regarding your chat script.

Yip, the chat script has been the problem, although the script will only allow in ten users max and they've only ever been in for a couple of hours max in the evenings. But finding somebody who will host it has been a real pain.
This is also a hobby site, it's not as if I make money, that I can plough back into it. So the figure mentioned is the most I can go for at the minute. :bawling:

Have you considered changing scripts to something along the lines of a php/mysql combo?

Yep, I installed phpMychat, Ultrachat and X7 Chat. I had problems running some of them on my current host, so I haven't been able to fully test them. They look okay though, although phpMychat was a bit basic.

For that budget you should easily be able to find a good host....does it have to be UK based?
I use http://dr2.net, they are very reliable, excellent support. Their holiday special sounds like just what you need

350MB/12GB bandwidth for $50/year.

There are a number of UK hosting companies that venture onto these forums. Maybe a search will bring you a few up?
Good luck anyhow ;)

I'd consider hosting outside the UK. Their developer plan comes into my budget. I'll maybe drop them and email.
