View Full Version : Need a host with mod_rewrite enabled

Hello:

I have been hosting with dathorn.com (and I have been quite satisfied.) Last night, however, I contacted them to find out if mod_rewrite was enabled on the servers. Here is what they told me:

no, it doesnt work after phpsuexec

So now I need to find another host that has mod_rewrite enabled. I don't really need it to be a reseller account, or anything fancy. I would like to stay around $5 per month, with no setup fee. I would also like to have unlimited subdomains, and as much diskspace and bandwidth as possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jesse

I don't know who told you this (perhaps I even did and wasn't paying attention), but that is not true. mod_rewrite will work just fine.

Does Dathorn allows mailman?

Yes, mailman has been re-enabled for quite some time now.

Andrew:

---edit... it won't let me post a link to the thread (it says I have to make at least 5 posts at webhostingtalk first)----

Anyway, kylec is the one that said it... see the thread "mod_rewrite" under general support on your forums.

I tried to setup mod_rewrite last night and it wasn't working... that is what led me to asking in the first place.

Well it does work, while I cannot help you debug your setup I can show you that something very basic works if you want.

Andrew:

I hate to be a pain... but I would appreciate if you would show me a basic example.

Kyle went as far as listing this link : cpanel11.gzo.com/phpinfo.php
to prove that it was not enabled and as I said I had trouble with it too.

It's not that I don't believe you, I would just like confirmation before I spend another 5 hours trying to get it to work!

Please submit a trouble ticket so that I can do it on your server even.
