Hello,
I just bought a server. I tried to buy a domain for my server but my registrar wont let me. Because I dont have active name servers. So I created the name servers on my new server. But since the name servers use the domain that isnt registered. How can I register the domain to point to my new box that has the name servers on it?
Thanks!

Altrez,
Most registrar allows you to use their name servers on a temporary basis and for most time it is free as long as you got the domain name from them. You could do this first and then after your name servers are active then do the switch over.

If you are using godaddy, it wont work, i am probably not best at dns but i can try :
Get a subdomain from uni.cc or any such services and use ip forwarding and put servce ip in that, after the free subdomain points to the server, you can use it as nameserver.
But its not the best way, some other ways i dont remember top of my head now.

What a great idea! Thank you very much. :)

I'll keep that option in mind. i might have no other option. I use maddogdomains which is the exact same. If anyone else has an idea please post!
Thanks

Well, Godaddy actually allows you to use their DNS to park your domain name for free.

True story: I told a friend about NameCheap. A friend of hers then signed up for two domains.
Funny part: He doesn't have a web site and isn't using their email. He just thought it was fun and cheap to own a couple of domains.
