Why in the world does it matter?

I wouldn't know why it matters that much, but I'd choose "forums".
I've had this dilemma many times, but eventually convinced myself that there are several FORUMS listed on the main page.

I don't think forums is a word.

steveTobb

Yes it is debateable....however, forumS is simply the plural of forum. I also agree that using FORA in the web world is just plain ugly :D

Why not both? :)
Just make one forward to the other...

FWIW, I prefer 'forum'.

Deciding whether to use forum(s) or board(s) also depends greatly on your domain name and whether you set it up as a sub-domain or folder. Go with what instinctively sounds right to you ;)

I think 'forum' is more acceptable for most of the end users as most of the big suppliers' which has a forum section, uses 'forum'.

Usually people know he/she 'll access to the forum section as typing forum.domain.com, as he/she allready knows that the site has a forum section. :)

I think really the two best are either forum. or /forum/ or community. or /community/, although then again this is just my oppinion.

There is no real right or wrong answer on this question, as there are no real right or wrong answers on any others. It really depends on your personal feeling and so on; although I do have to admit most of the corporate big shot boys go with either forum or community and not forums, talk, or fora. ;)

Really decide on go on your gut feeling. What may be a good idea is to create the following:
community.
forum.
forums.
fora.
communities.
support.
talk.

and so on, and then have them all forward to the one of your choice. This is a very good way/idea to make sure there are no problems with accessing your support forums.

Hope this helps. :)
