HeadBuilder 12-09-2003, 07:58 PM I wouldn't know why it matters that much, but I'd choose "forums". I've had this dilemma many times, but eventually convinced myself that there are several FORUMS listed on the main page. steveTobb 12-09-2003, 08:09 PM haha, ok, anyone else? Pheaton 12-09-2003, 08:22 PM We have it "forums" on all our sites. steveTobb 12-09-2003, 08:29 PM alrighty, i think i found the solution.... foward forum.xeohosting.com to forums.xeohosting.com :) -steve aingaran 12-09-2003, 08:30 PM I don't think forums is a word. steveTobb 12-09-2003, 08:34 PM haha. that is debatable. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=forums H-U.net 12-09-2003, 08:56 PM The proper word is fora :) Who the hell wants to use that though? Just use forums :D Kevin steveTobb 12-09-2003, 09:23 PM *sign* VanHost 12-09-2003, 09:56 PM Originally posted by steveTobb haha. that is debatable. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=forums Yes it is debateable....however, forumS is simply the plural of forum. I also agree that using FORA in the web world is just plain ugly :D UH-Matt 12-09-2003, 09:58 PM Point both to your forums. freakb0y 12-09-2003, 10:15 PM boards. ;) IHSL 12-09-2003, 10:23 PM community.yourdomain.com ;) sounds much better thedavid 12-09-2003, 10:59 PM Why not both? :) Just make one forward to the other... FWIW, I prefer 'forum'. -David ub3r 12-09-2003, 11:20 PM well, being a forum enthusiast, i find that the norm is usually www.yoursite.com/forum/ . Dylan 12-10-2003, 05:47 AM Originally posted by freakb0y boards. ;) I beg to differ. board. :stickout: :D hycloud 12-10-2003, 06:05 AM I use forum. Bashar 12-10-2003, 06:35 AM forums for multi section forum or forum if it has one purpose it can be also support. if its support forum or community. or www.something.com :D essexguy 12-10-2003, 06:55 AM aplaceforallyoulovelycustomerstocomeandasksupportquestionspraiseusbitchwhenwemessyouabout.yourdomain.com :D Bashar 12-10-2003, 07:06 AM it wont resolve :P Dylan 12-10-2003, 07:54 AM Deciding whether to use forum(s) or board(s) also depends greatly on your domain name and whether you set it up as a sub-domain or folder. Go with what instinctively sounds right to you ;) essexguy 12-10-2003, 07:58 AM Originally posted by Bashar it wont resolve :P http://aplaceforallyoulovelycustomerstocomeandasksupportquestionspraiseusbitchwhenwemessyouabout.xione.net it does now :D [edit] joke [edit] RatWaSheR 12-10-2003, 07:58 AM I think 'forum' is more acceptable for most of the end users as most of the big suppliers' which has a forum section, uses 'forum'. Usually people know he/she 'll access to the forum section as typing forum.domain.com, as he/she allready knows that the site has a forum section. :) HTTPbit 12-10-2003, 08:46 AM "talk" like http://talk.eryxma.com ;) Acsiak - Andrew 12-10-2003, 01:00 PM I think really the two best are either forum. or /forum/ or community. or /community/, although then again this is just my oppinion. There is no real right or wrong answer on this question, as there are no real right or wrong answers on any others. It really depends on your personal feeling and so on; although I do have to admit most of the corporate big shot boys go with either forum or community and not forums, talk, or fora. ;) Really decide on go on your gut feeling. What may be a good idea is to create the following: community. forum. forums. fora. communities. support. talk. and so on, and then have them all forward to the one of your choice. This is a very good way/idea to make sure there are no problems with accessing your support forums. Hope this helps. :) steveTobb 12-10-2003, 05:05 PM wow. so many diverse opinions. delstar 12-11-2003, 08:41 PM I will go with the plural. StoaVio 12-12-2003, 09:50 AM forums |
