View Full Version : MYSQL package 3.23.37 on raq3?

I've gone to http://pkg.nl.cobalt.com/packages/raq/3/
and see two versions of MYSQL that they say are packages I can install through the admin screen. (3.23.37-1 & 3.23.36-1)

When I try to install either, including
RaQ3-RaQ4-MySQL-3.23.37-1.pkg

it gives me an error a couple minutes in saying something similar to "there was a problem with mysql-3.23.37-1.i386.rpm"

I've tried uploading the file from my local drive as well.

Any ideas? When I telnet in, there IS a mysql directory. Do I need to delete it before trying to reinstall the package? Any other directories to wipe out? There is no mysql package listed in the admin software window.

Thanks!

I'd uninstall it (if possible) before trying to reinstall it. Not sure about the error however...

do I simply delete the mysql directory or are there others? Since the package didn't install properly, there is no uninstall package option anywhere.

Nothing in uninstallers, eh? Well, that I can't tell you. There might be instructions on how to 'upgrade' a typical mysql installation on the mysql site, and I think you should take a look at that, as I believe they suggest you remove the old version before upgrading (even though you are reinstalling, the method should be the same).

i experienced the exact same thing on my RaQ4r. "Problem installing package component mySQL-3.23.37-1.i386.rpm"

nothing in uninstallers.

when i do a cd ~mysql i see the following:

[root admin]# cd ~mysql
[root mysql]# ls -l
total 4
drwx--x--x 2 mysql root 1024 Sep 6 16:01 mysql
drwxrwxr-x 2 mysql root 1024 Sep 6 16:01 test
-rw-rw-r-- 1 mysql root 281 Sep 6 16:04 www.netastic.net.err
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 5 Sep 6 16:04 www.netastic.net.pid

on top of this MS FP and ASP is broken now. think it is from one of the update .pkg installs. i have been looking for help for over a week with no luck. anyone know any good Cobalt admin people at a fair price?

I don't know what his price is but Jens (that one I like to huck scripts off of, heh) does this type of outsourced admin work I believe. Also Leslie of Eagle Web has helped many on the forum, though this might be beyond simple helping out.

for what it's worth, I took the latest files from mysql site and ftp'd them up, then ran them. It all seemed to install fine, with no error given this time.

Not sure what I'd have to do to try and install the next mysql package, since there wouldn't be a package uninstaller.

PHP next...

I had the same problem with my server with TEra-Byte and I emailed them about the problem.. This is what I was replied :

The reason why your new package was not installed was because the 9819 RPM patch was not applied yet. That is why the package was failing. Both are now installed. It was NOT a problem with the server, but a problem with the order in which you patched your server.
