I just got a dedicated server and i can't get 000domains to pick up my name server i get this error.
Command failed: unable to verify existence of nameserver
Is it doing this because i just got the server and it will take time before it picks them up or do i just have something wrong :)

It could take as much as 2 days before it will pick it up, but usually 12 to 24 hours is all it takes. Just keep trying. I use 000domains, too. I really like the interface and the ability to manage multiple domains in one account.

Do a whois using the following command "host ns.yourdomain.com) it will tell you whether it is registered correctly. If it is give it up to 72 hours, Ive seen it take that long before.
I wasn't sure i thought it was me because i am only learing buy trail and error. Where do the IP address come from on a name server? Do i decide what they are or does my host or am i souposed to use 2 of the ips i was given for the name servers i didn't see anywhere on the raq to fill them in.
I love 000domains they are alot better and easy to use compared to network :)

Ahhhh, you've not set them up, nor assigned them yet I gather... need to read up a bit on how to do this. Ask you host, read their docs and cobalt's docs, etc. Read another host's docs if you need to...
no all i did was put ns.mysite.com in the SOA i never specifyed the IPs to use i didn't see where to do so.

Ahhhh is right. I am not familiar with a raq, but I do know that they need to be setup and have IP's assigned before 000domains will find them.
Marty
I can't find any info on name server for the raq all i could find was how to setup the DNS nothing about name servers. What i did in all the SOA for every virtual site i used the same name servers
ns.mysite.com
ns2.mysite.com
Every virtual site has been assigned its on IP address and added into the dns settings im sure i did that right i did it just like the manual said but like i said i don't know what determines ns.mysite.com IP address i never gave it one nor did i see anywhere to do so?
The General Settings under network have been filled out with what the host told me to put there so i have no idea of what i left out.
Yup
Marty is right.
With 000domains.com, you can "create name servers" but you have to have the ip numbers assigned when you set them up.
Did mine with no problems and I really love 000domains ease of use.

I did have a small problem transfering a domain from Network Solutions to them but don't think the issue was with 000domains. Took almost a week and a half and didn't get fixed till I emailed them about the transfer 8 days later.

I'm going to give this a shot. First you must create a ns.domainname.com ns2.domainname.com. Then you have to assign an IP address to them pointing to the ISP that's providing your nameserver. From there your DNS will propogate the web and whatever zones you add will also propogate the web. Some ISP updates their dns twice a day which is good so it should take about 24 hours for your names to propogate the web. Hope this helps.
