Does billing via paypal still require the party being billed to be registered with paypal first?

I think so. I remember that registration-less payments was something Damon was going to take to the higher-ups as "something customers want" but I don't think they've done it yet.

I looked at them for something a while ago but I thought it would be too much of a put off to prospective customers.

not if you also offer an alternative solution..
some people prefer paypal.. if they already have an account.
about a quarter of my customers pay via paypal.

In fact, some people 'prefer' PayPal. As they don't have a major credit card or any other means.

See what you mean, its wise to have as many ways of saying "yes, we can accept payment that way".

Funny, I just remembered, I seem to recal an email from paypal recently along the lines of the billed party being able to pay without registering coming soon but I might be wrong and I cant locate the particular email I think it might have been.

Paypal does definately seem to be gaining in popularity very well.

Payments, be they to or from a party, do require an active account at this time. I have reported the demand for non-account creation, but I am not sure if it will become available.

I must have remembered it wrong, would be cool though, I'm not suprised there has been some request for it.

Thanks.

It would be good to offer it as a payment option, but not in place of regular CC's.

PP now says they have a re-occurring billing function but I haven't tried it yet.

I am including the link for subscriptions here (general questions on the service).

What I like about PayPal is if you get your accounts to signup with subscriptions PayPal Bills for you they take the money from their account every month and sends you an Email ,if they don't have enough to pay PayPal sends you an Email telling you so you don't even have to think about it .

That's pretty nice since you accounts start at different days of the month. I've had people say PayPal is not Professional Looking . Well if they are good enough for Ebay they are good enough for me.
