I run http://freetheweb.us an anti-RIAA site, calling for a boycott of RIAA CDs and music because of their continued lawsuits against p2p users. During this critical shopping season before Christmas, we're looking to find a way to inform large numbers of people about the lawsuits, the moral and legal issues behind them, and why they shouldn't buy CDs for themselves or others. We've already tried the traditional methods of fliers, posters on telephone poles, and stickers with limited success. Now we're looking for new ideas - anyone got any ?
We've got a couple hundred $$ for advertising, and we won't resort to spamming, etc.
We're intentionally looking for a non-traditonal way to reach anyone and everyone who will listen, but our main audience is teen aged Americans and Canadians. We don't want to annoy people either.

Posting in forums, guestbooks, etc, always work :)
Check the many marketing strings on this board... it is basically the same thing. You need a marketing plan, that should have been in your business plan in the first place, if you have one.
Basically, google, overture... purchase some banners on sites that your market is sure to visit, purchase radio/TV airtime, etc, etc....
As a note: In the future I would not place the url of the place you are talking about on a forum... many times this will be considered spam... sometimes it is better not to put the url and someone will always ask for the url, then it does not look like spam... just a suggestion... no flame ... it is all good. :)

ATM we're not in agreement with any sites..well i don't really know the type of agreement you're talking about.. but we're working with and communicate with several others within the community.. including http://thelastvoice.org and http://downhillbattle.org .
I'll be checking out the other threads.. I know posting in forums works - what do you think I'm doing here lol ?!
I wish we could afford airtime.. and I'll make an effort not to look like spam in the future :)
We don't really have a business plan, as this site was just a little pet project of mine when I started it..and it's not a business for me ATM.

Have you tried submitting press releases to the media? I know it isn't non-traditional, but it is cheaper than traditional advertising. I'm sure there are some online media services that can take your press release and send it to the appropriate news agencies (college newspapers included).
