Hi,
I have some questions about Redhat Linux and Redhat Enterprise:
1. What will be the impact to all dedicated servers? Since there will be no upgrade or support after Linux 9.0, will all existing Redhat Linux finally need to upgrade to Redhat Enterprise??
2. Why Redhat stop upgrading and supporting after Redhat Linux 9.0? What is the main reasons?
Best regards

The Fedora Legacy project will be releasing patches for RH 7-9 after the EOL, so you really don't have to worry. I believe it'll be directly through up2date with a simple modification, apt or yum. I've never had to use RedHat support myself, and upgrades are going to be covered by Fedora.

I may be wrong but from what I see the main reasons would be :-
1) Financial. Support a free effort is costly and time-consuming and it may not sit well with the shareholders who wants a return of their investment. Offering free software doesn't quite pay for the operations and development of Redhat as a for-profit business.
2) Reinventing itself. From the addition of the term 'Enterprise' in the new Redhat edition, I believe they want to complete head-on for the commercial markets and target the corporate users where the money is. Many companies are now beginning to see the value in Linux and there is definitely great interest in that sector. By re-inventing it and incorporating the Redhat name to this venture, it would definitely have a chance against the big boys.
