NORRITT 09-18-2001, 01:42 PM as far as I know there is no control panel for netra. you have to be good in solaris to manage this server .. sorry, have no idea about speed Vortech 09-18-2001, 04:00 PM We use the Netra X1's and T1's for SLA grear, They are fast but would not keep up with a dual 800 or above running FreeBSD.. As for control panels WebMin work fine on the for the admin for the users side. We are working with Plesk on this there old 1.3.0 very will or should work on the netra X1's. Since you just said netra i am not sure if you mean the X1's or T1's the T1's are very fast and may give freebsd a little run but not sure as i have not played with them much.. pmak0 09-18-2001, 05:57 PM Originally posted by Vortech Since you just said netra i am not sure if you mean the X1's or T1's the T1's are very fast and may give freebsd a little run but not sure as i have not played with them much.. I'm wondering how powerful the Sun Netra X1's that RackShack.net will offer are. For $250 setup fee (-$50 affiliate commission) and $130 per month, they give a Sun Netra X1 (500MHz) with 128 MB RAM and 20 GB HD (300 GB bandwidth). I'm comparing this with freebsd.efreeservers.com, which gives a Dual PIII 850MHz with 256 MB RAM and dual 18GB SCSI hard drive for $0 setup fee and $300 per month (200 GB bandwidth). efreeservers allows IRC. efreeservers allows adult content. RackShack gives more bandwidth. Vortech 09-18-2001, 06:15 PM Well i hate to say this but bandwidth does you no good with any support if you can't keep your server up. With saying that i think efreeservers from what i have been seeing from RackShack post here.. Some say they or ok some hate them.. I don't use RackShack as we are a hositng co. and sell Netra's, Dedicated and Co-Location Hosting our self. If it was me i would be on my with the FreeBSD server.. It is easier to Admin then Sun thats for sure.. If you have not used FreeBSD or any *nix over 5 year or longer or know SUN software stay away.. FreeBSD would be much better for you in the long run i think any way.. Have not seen to many bad thing on efreeservers so would go with them.. |
