You should be able to put 250+ on there. But its hard to say for sure. It all depends on the amount to traffic your pushing, what services you are providing, the control panel you're using, etc... There is no way to say with 100% certanty. You just start adding them and monitor resources, adjust accordingly...

Like I said, it all depends on customers.

We have one box with well over 150 domains on it and it only pumps about 75gigs/month. Most of them happen to be the small business type that put up a site and forget about it (sometimes for get to pay too)...

Just never know till you started adding them and monitor resources IMO...

Yyou need to take into consideration what software and services (e.g. MySQL, php, asp, email services, dns, ftp, etc..) you will be running and offering to your clients and how much reasources these services are going to eat up. You also have to consider how much available bandwidth and disk storage you have to dedicate to your clients and create ratios that compare with your Hosting Plans that you will be offering. Ofcourse good server management helps too. You know how a break-even analysis works in marketing? Well the same applies with server resources. If you are planning on running some, or all, of the services that I listed above (considering this is your first and only box) I would recomend that you add another gig or two of ram. You can easily host 1200 sites on one box (depending on your configuration)

Its not the amount of sites you host, it is what the sites are for. One site can eat up the whole server, or you can put 1000, that won't need any resources.
