View Full Version : Modernbill w/ which Payment Processor?
arelex 12-05-2003, 05:46 PM Hello WHT,
I am currently switching over to ModernBill 4.1 and I just wanted to know which Payment processor works best with MB. (Other than authorize.net)
I am looking for re-occurring payments so my clients can be billed silently. I am thinking about www.propay.com but there is no phone support.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!
efarmer 12-06-2003, 01:15 AM Most merchant account/gateway work well with MB, check their website.
Heymish 12-06-2003, 03:55 AM all the good ones work :)
NxTek 12-06-2003, 01:21 PM I'd go with Authorize.net but the ones they support work well.
twastudios 12-06-2003, 01:24 PM Great post arelex, I have this same question myself.
I was going to sign with FreeAuthNet.com, but their requirements scared me away. 3 year contract with $250 cancelation fee. 250 transactions per month.
That might sound good to you or someone else, but it won't work for me.
I'll take a look at propay.com. No phone support? hmmm
Do me a favor and post back who you go with and why, that would be extremely helpful to me ;) (and maybe someone else)
Cubix16 12-06-2003, 03:59 PM personaly i would go with popular ones like auth or paypal,2checkout,paysystems insted of non since people don't usly use propay and those other ones.
drose25 12-06-2003, 10:29 PM I use MB with Authorize.net and PayPal. Both work very nicely and integrate well into the billing system. Clients have had nothing but positive things to say about the system.

Which one is the most? On Modernbill's website, it lists a bunch of payment processors that work but when I installed MB v1.1, it says "IN Development" for alot of them including propay.com.
That is the reason why I opened this thread...
I know that authorize.net and paypal work great, but I wish to find out what other options are available.
Thanks for everyone's help.

I think propay is backfiring because it changed from "stable" to "development" inside of modernbill. :(

Unfortunately you need a merchant account to do it with ModernBill.
Maybe WorldPay or Paypal may work.
Processors supported does not mean all will work the way you want it.
2checkout or paysystems are not merchant accounts
The key is to ask the developer your intentions before purchase and must be very specific.
Some say that generating invoice for clients to go to the processor site every month to enter cc info to pay is recurring billing, so be specific with your questions to them.

I have no problem if my client had to go to my site everytime to make a payment. My problem is that some processors do not work with MB at all.
For example(Not sure if it's resolved yet)....
Paysystems: There is a problem in MB where the customer would have to enter their CC info TWICE. They input it in modernbill and they get prompted for their CC info again once they hit the paysystems (At the end of the purchase). This is because paysystems will not allow MB to accept the CC info because MB is not a merchant or something to that nature.
Can anyone confirm Paysystems works fine with MB? I'm not worried about re-occurring payments, just that the customer doesn't have to enter their CC info twice.

-I'm fully aware that 2checkout, paysystems, paypal, etc... are all third party gateways and are all under a Master Merchant Account.
-I did ask Modernbill prior to my purchase and they told me to visit the website. What they have on the website is not the same within the application. Things that was supported probably found problems and are back in development.
efarmer 12-10-2003, 12:58 AM I think 2checkout or paysystems work fine if you are willing to let your clients go to 2checkout or paysystems every month to enter cc info to pay.
May be a setup issue, which version are you using?
Fellow users at their support forum may be able to help you on this.
kris1351 12-10-2003, 11:29 AM Recurring is supposed to be supported via MB with the new module sets the yare releasing. I believe with Paysystems/Revacom they are the closest on this project.
Devil Inside 02-22-2004, 03:52 PM From what I've read 2checkout supports recurring with MB as well as PayPal.
But I have not used the recurring billing myself. But I am looking to switch over to 2checkout do to problems with their system not accepting card payment with no good reason...
*i know this is where you tell me they were probably fraudulant*
But the decline message is nothing of the sort and they keep sending my clients to talk to their bank which always ends up the same - they auth the purchase but 2checkout doesn't respond to taking the $$
*shrugs*
I'm hoping propay works out with MB soon. :)
AH-Tina 02-22-2004, 04:32 PM For an authorize.net account at a REALLY good price:
http://www.cdgcommerce.com - great company to work with.
Don't be scared by their website. ;)
