I have heard very nice things on different forums about the services by ZoneEdit.com and MyDomain.com (free DNS services)

I would like to give it a try now, but not with my two .COM domains for which I have paid extra to use the registrar's DNS (plus, I don't want to move them and having to do all settings again from the beginning)

So, is there a free domain service where I can register something and move it to MyDomain.com / ZoneEdit.com ? Paying for a domain I only need to try a service is a bit crazy, so I'd like to keep it free.
I know DotTK is free, but they want you to use their DNS.

If I like MyDomain or ZoneEdit I am considering using them next time I really need a domain for a site (and then I'm happy to pay for it, like I did with my 2 .COM's , so it's not like I am afraid to spend cash, wasting money on a try-out looks a bit crazy though)

I dont know of any DNS providing free domains. I am sure someone might let you test with a domain that is unimportant.

Aren't .tk domainnames free of charge ?

UNI.CC (http://www.uni.cc) sounds like it's right up your alley.

No free TLDs except for .tk and .com.np (for which you need an address in Nepal) ??

Then I may try the .uni.cc

Do ZoneEdit and MyDomain accept subdomains from for example uni.cc on their DNS ?

.com.np and .net.np are free indeed, and I'd be interested even if it would be 1 or 2 bucks a year :)
