www.web-solutions.dk says :

"At present it is possible to preregister the following type of names:

.hk - Hong Kong (January 2004 launch)
.com.es / .org.es - Spain (Mid-december 2004 launch)
.name (January 2004 launch)
.dk domains with special characters (January 2004 launch)
.eu (spring/summer 2004 launch)"

What I would like to know is if anyone knows the policies to these newbies ?
Do I need an address in Spain for .com.es and .org.es ?
Do I need an address in Hong Kong for .hk ?
Do I need an address in Denmark for .dk ? (don't think so, but not completely sure)

I especially support the .DK thing : finally some extention makes it possible to register domains with å !

When will I be able to register français.fr and straße.de ?

(not to mention that sheiße.de would be worth many € :))

The best place to find out about each country's rules is on the relevant registry's web site. A list (with links) can be found on the web site of the Norwegian registry (norid.no) - I was going post the full link as I thought it would be helpful, but apparently I'm not allowed to post links as I am new to this forum. Sorry, was only trying to help. What a stupid rule!!! :-(

As for IDNs (Internationalised Domain Names) - Poland was the first to launch these, a few weeks ago. Norway either has launched, or is about to. Germany is due to launch some time in the first half of next year.

As for "pre-registering .eu" - don't even think about it!!! This is what the EURID web site has to say:

" Can I pre-register a .eu domain ?

Not at the moment. EURid has currently not yet accredited any .eu registrars through whom official requests for registration of a .eu domain name can be introduced. "

Lubeca, pre-registering .eu can never do harm. If you're lucky enough that the registrar you pre-registered with becomes an accredited registrar, then you're a step ahead of those who didn't pre-register.
But EurID is right of course, there are no guarantees of getting the domain. That's why I only pre-register with those where it is totally free.

Isn't it that .com.es will be open for foreigners, while .es remains restricted to people and organisations in Spain ?

What I posted earlier was taken straight from the Eurid web site, word by word. I think I would trust the registry here... (BTW, the Eurid web site also contains a speciific warning against registereu.com)
