Search the Users List at Cobalt.com
[http://list.cobalt.com/mailman/listinfo/cobalt-users/]

There have been several discussions regarding stats programs.

Most people I know have been using Webalizer. There is a guy who floats around there that will install it and get it running for you for something like $50. His e-mail address is Jeff@ecio.net. I may be using him to set it up on a few of our servers.

[And before the flames start: 1) this is not me, 2) I have no official affiliation with this man and 3) I get no commissions or other perks.] :-)

I hope this helps.

MichaelK, although the Cobalt users list was indeed a very good suggestion, for whatever reason, it has been unaccessable for at least a week now.

I know :(

Earlier today, the entire site was not accessible. Then it came back up. I still can't get into the lists.

HOWEVER, once is does come up, you will find a wealth of information! :-)

Oh yeah, even thought he archive can't be reached, the lists are still working. The address is mailto:cobalt-users@list.cobalt.com

check at
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/raq3/

if you have a raq3... there is a .pkg file to install webalizer automatically fro all your users.

ok so i guess im not the only one that dislikes the rqas stats page after all :) I wonder if i could get my host to do it for me? I wouldn't mind paying them i think it would be worth it over time but thanks for the info

I can't get the page to come up. What happens to the old raqs status page when you install Webalizer? I never have installed anything on it its a raq3.

One can only hope it dies a slow painful death :) actually, I'm sure it is still there, not sure, but doubt it deletes anything off the server.

I installed the Webalizer shortly after the post.

As far as I could see, the old stats page is still there.

My server is already showing me stats. It took less time than expected. Once installed, you can find your Webalizer stats at http://www.domain.com/stats

You will need your username and password.

How do you install it? Just upload the .pkg file? It can't be that easy can it im just leasing the raq3 do i need to ask the host first since its theres? :)

I can't answer your question about asking your host first. They may have their own system (I can't see why not, but then, I am not them).

To install it, you would:

1. go to Server Management
2. click on Maintenance
3. Click install software
4. type in:

ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/raq3/webalizer-auth-1.30.04.i386.pkg

in the URL field

5. Click on 'Install a pkg Package

After that I didn't have to do anything more.

I then went and checked it as I outlined in my previous post.

yer kidding? Hell, I spend more effort uploading a webpage than that! *lol* Don't have my own server so I can't speak with authority but is much of running a server like that? Bear in mind I do understand there's a TON of stuff that's very, very hard. But, as far as installing software from another online source is it just a matter of 'side-loading' it into place?

I wouldn't say that it is always this easy. (I know someone who installed it exactly as I did and can't get it to work the way it did for me.)

The .pkg files are far and few in between...and some require addt'l setup/config.

I could see how that description could mislead someone into thinking that it is easy. :-)

If only all of server management were a .pkg load!
