I would like some help with how to use the move accounts function of Cpanel.

Can someone please advise on the following:

1. When an account is moved, does it change the DNS records on the old server to point it to the new server?

2. If after moving them I keep old server up, and haven't registered my new nameserver IP's will this continue to work for some time?

Thanks in advance!!

1. No. But you can maintain the same nameservers, and change the record at the registrar.

2. Yes. It would. It's just a matter of which servers visitors will be directed to: old or the new server.

WHMs copy function is quite buggy. Remember to double check folder permissions of transferred accounts - We recently transferred accounts to servers in a new data centerand for some accounts folder permissions where changed from 755 to 750 during the transfer. Afterwards we had to go in and manually change permissions for those folders. (can also be done server wide via SSH 'chmod 755 /home/*/public_html'). Also make sure that the cpanel themes used by clients on the server are available at the destination server as well, or clients will not be able to log in to their cpanel after the transfer. Checking WHM 'Modify an Account' you'll see theme 'NO'. Finally the IPs of a few accounts weren't changed properly to the new server IP. It is a good idea to double check DNS zones as well.
