Hi,
I just ordered 4 dual xeon boxes @ SM this morning, 1 with 2x73k SCSI 15k (-> DB server), the others with 200G EIDEs (-> webservers).
SM will set them up in a 8 port 'vlan' with unlimited transfer between the DB and webservers.
So far everything looks really great - they even gave me an upgrade of one of the HDs for free and everything seams to be on track.
I was wondering how fast these EIDEs are in a real world DB/Web application compared to e.g. 10k SCSI (I know they are slower...we'll use them mostly to cache pics from the DB) - also looking for any other tips as they seam to be pretty flexible and there are still 5 days left before we'll move from ev1 to SM.
Did anybody ever regret moving from ev1 to SM?
I'll keep you posted how everything goes...
