Hello,
We are setting up a third webserver for hosting, and we need to figure out which control panel we will put on it. We have used CPANEL and Cobalt Interface before. We are debating over Plesk V2. Anyone else have any pro's/con's of Plesk or any other control panel we should use? Any advice? This is a Red Hat Linux 7.1 Server with dual processors if this makes a difference. Thanks!

That depends mainly on your needs.
In my eyes, CPanel is a bit buggy, Plesk is more stable but lacks some features. If I was you I would also talk to JaguarPC (http://www.jaguarpc.com), they have developed a new control panel. I haven't used it but some ideas they told me sound quite interesting.

I looked at their site (jaguarpc) and they use the CPANEL, it looks like. However, I like what they did with it (it's modified). Is it available for a 1 time purchase?

I beleive the new one is available one-time, but you'd have to contact them about that. It is not cpanel, but their own effort. I believe they either still use, or used cpanel, so the site might not help you much.

Thanks for the response. I will let you know what happens. Any other control panels?

I contacted Jaguar PC and their control panel's aren't being released until atleast 3 -5 weeks away. We need something by next week (the end of next week)...Any ideas besides Plesk?

The only other one I can think of is Ensim.

I have used Ensim and I don't like it, one bit. So, Plesk v2 would be the way to go?

If you've used plesk, you know it isn't quite as intuitive as other systems. I've found cpanel and RaQs, etc., much easier to figure out without having to look at any type of manual (the last thing you ever want to do). But it does enough, and works well, so in the end I guess it is just like driving another car, you get used to it, though you hate it at first and the window wipers aren't in the 'right' place :D

Well Now being a gold partner of Plesk, currently though we still use ensim, plesk will be only way to go right now.

We are aware of Ensim releasing V3 which is supposed to be quite solid, but currently we find that as a stand alone applaince Ensim lacks the needs we want.

The biggest thing about Plesk is that everyone can be a reseller, and its based on rights. Its kind like being a head network admin in sence.

I think Plesk 2 is the best way to go, we run it on BSD and RH 7.1. They both work great, though we do prefer BSD. Overall Go Plesk, you will be happy.

In regards to looks its simple and easy and stable. Exactly what you need

3-5 weeks is not accurate, more like 2 but good luck with your search.

We just bought H Sphere for our new servers after spending serveral months reviewing control panel software from the various companies. It's loaded with features and does not require a monthly domain fee.

The initial price is based on the number of domains you host, in units of 100, and does have an option for a small annual payment if you wish updates and support.

We will be retiring all our leased servers this year so by the end of the year this cp will cover all our clients. It is scaleable so it will not be a problem to add new servers onto the system.

We have also found their support staff to be very helpful as we learn how to use the cp features.

Only negative I can see is their support manual, which in my opinion is not detailed enough. However, how many software companies provide adequate support manuals today?

Note: we are not affiliated with them in any manner, just very pleased with their product.
