Well I've spent to much time in NYC and the surronding area, I've been rained on, stepped on ( foot ) hit by car ( side swiped ) and last but not least, 2 flat tires.

I woke up to realize that I had to do something ( I just walk a few feet and I have the NYC skyline up real close ) a few nights ago. So I did something. I packed a bag, got on my bike ( ten speed ) and hopped into the city to help.

I went from dropoff location to drop off location doing 2 things, making signs for where things need to be placed and setting up organized shipping and receiving.

so I can pass on what I learned to others here was my game plan when I was in NYC, Queens & " Da Bronx's "

sorting

1) water ( h2o) is sorted out by itself, stored outside the warehouse ( rain can hit it w/o problem ): used for cleaning eyes and drinking

2) other drinks : gatoraid, orange juice....

3) socks, under garments, gloves googles, dog food, shovels and grain bars

4) medical supplies ( anything used by doctors including mouthwash and toothpaste )

5) quick consumption food ( ready made and nothing needed to be done but open to eat ) like apple pies, sandwiches...

most of these products have different location where they are needed in NYC. #1, #3, a small bit of #2, #4, #5 go to WTC distribution. the rest go to all other places.

the way I was working was, set up a load on a floor space of 7' wide and 13' long. then walk outside grab a cop. They would send over a truck. easy as that.

Shea stadium was not easy, I spent a better part of friday thier. I just sorted, made signs and set loads up.

so if you want to help, please go down to the collection area and sort some of the stuff. that helps everyone.

p.s. I tired, exhusted, and with little energy left. but tommarow with some rest I'll be in newport mall (Jersey City) stacking boxes and getting loads for NYC ready. so look for me, I have a sealand cap (cacci green), blue jeans and a red bandana.
