View Full Version : This is amazing...

I have a domain registration client who wishes to transfer his domain to Network Solutions...

If that isn't amazing in itself (that somebody would actually transfer a domain to NSI), he insists that *I'm* suposed to transfer the domain to NSI for him.

After trying to explain to him the transfer process, and even directing him to the 'change registrar' page on the NSI website.. he still insists that I am supposed to transfer the domain for him. He even claims that NSI told him that I am supposed to.

What now? ;)

P.S. This is one of those times where the customer is not right.

He even claims that NSI told him that I am supposed to We often hear that "NSI said so.." it's not uncommon and not always a lie. NSI is notorious for shoving the support costs onto the hosts .... I've yet to figure out how to get a demanding client to understand how this works... often I hear "Well my old host did it for me last time" which of course was prior to there being options other than NSI.

The best you can do is continue to explain step by step what the client needs to do in the nicest way you know how repeatedly if needed. If able, try to walk them through it via voice.

It's frustrating at best but service is service none the less.

Ok, I'll bite. Why would someone want to pay extra for that service? Did he give you a reason? :)

What you can do, is just request the relevant information from them, fill that information on NSI's proper forms and press the submit button. Simply tell them to review the parts of the template that they need to verify and they can trust you filled in the correct information otherwise, and all they need to do is reply in the protocol you chose -- even is just from-mail authentication. I think that for a domain record, and possibly even a contact NIC, they will probably be okay with. Of course, it's not always that easy, and I've never moved _from_ another registrar To netsol, so there might be more involved.

He says the enom interface is not 'user friendly'.

Tim, good advice :) I can change the technical contact for the domain to be myself, and submit the form for him. I belive that route will require me to pay the NSI charge of $70 for to years though.

When directing him to the 'change registrar' form, he claimed he already filled it out over a month ago.

If he filled the form out before July 15th, the transfered would have been denied because of ICAN's '60 day rule' that requires the domain to be transfered be registered longer than 60 days before it can be transfered. He seems a bit confused on when he registered the domain, saying it was in March of this year when it was actually in May.

I think my only option now is to change the Technical contact for the domain to my own contact information and then contacting NetSol myself to see what problem, if any, we are having here.

Thanks for the suggestions =]

heh... network solutions, "user friendly". Is your customer feeling alright?

I'd say ask what they don't like about the interface and then find a lower priced, easier to use registrar that they can deal with.
