I have a photo shown here: http://64.191.40.250/~juliet/image.html

Does anyone know how I can outline that women and crop her so that I end up with a photo of only her? That's a photo of my mom and I have to stick her on a CD label, but I need to crop her out.

I need to trace her head and body and then crop her so that I end up with a photo of her outlined.

it's called photoshop, or if you're unexperienced Microsoft PictureIt! is pretty good.

I used to have photoshop a long time ago, but not anymore :(

I don't know how to trace a shape like that and crop it out completely.

Is there anyone here that who has a pogram like that who can quickly crop out that little image for me? That would be great, anyone here who can do that... pretty please? If not, I just have to re-do my CD design. Which sucks! :(

Frosty, I can help, but you would get much better results starting from a JPG. Is this the only version and size/resolution available?

There are many ways to cut out an object from its background, you can use the any of the lasso tools, the pen tool, or extract. Whenever i do something like this i zoom in really close and with the polygon lasso tool i carefully outline the subject and i delete the background.

Okay I crop the photo a little smaller and did some touchup on her face and she now looks younger. I darken it slightly to make her look more sexy.

LOL, thanks much for all the help guys :D

But the way I was talking about cropping it out was I can't have that background... I need to get rid of that square background.
I don't know how to explain it good... you know how when you outline an object and crop it out you still end up with a white square background. That's no good.

I just need to have an image of her outlined, no square background. Is that possible to do that type of thing?
See this image is square and has a background which is no good :(

Thanks for the help anyway! :)
I actually do have a better quality photo somewhere, i'll look for it.

Well, no matter what you do to the image, it will wind up being 'square' in the end. If you mean you need it to have a transparent background, so you can place it onto any background, then you need it in a particular format. PNG, TIFF and GIF support this. TIFF is the most likely to yield decent results you can use whever you need (most graphics apps understand TIFF transparencies using Alpha channels).

If you find the better quality image, I'll take a shot at it for you. I'd need to know what graphics program you will do the final image manipulation in for the best results. (Photoshop, Fireworks, PSP...)

Here is a .gif with a transparent background it was created in xarax if you have it I can send you the .xar

Furthermore if you send me the background I can add it to the backdrop for you.

Thanks for all the help! Yeah that's what I need... a transparent background. I tried the one DefiantPc gave but there is something wrong. I'm using the "Fellowes MediaFace" program to make CD labels. I'm going to have a background of a city on the CD and was going to stick my mom on top of it. That's why I need her background to be transparent.

That last image you guys gave was perfect and transparent in the background but when I go to open it in that program so that I can paste it onto the CD I get the below error:

http://64.191.40.250/~juliet/image.html

I tried re-saving it as a GIF again in selteco bannershop maker (which is the other program i'm using) to see if that helps... but that CD program still refuses to allow me to import that image for some crazy reason :(
And I can't find a better quality photo than that one. That is odd, I don't undersatnd why that CD program refuses to let me import that image in particular, I think it did something funny to the image when you guys made it transparent? Sorry for long post.

Hi Juliet, could you give a screenshot of the media face design so I can put Mom on top of for you?

Hi, ok great thanks very much :D

I uploaded the CD image below... I just want to stick her to the right side of the CD. LOL, oh my goodness, if this CD turns out ok looking it will be a mircale at this point:

http://64.191.40.250/~juliet/image.html

If this doesn't work, guess i'll have to try something else. I already tried sticking her next to a palm tree... that didn't work out too well either. Thanks for the help... I don't know why but the program won't allow me to import the image so that I can put it there, strange.

Here's the one where I stuck her next to a tree:

LOL, i'm not very good at this :crap:

Oops! Nevermind, I just tried saving it as a BMP instead of GIF and it then let me import it! :D

DefiantPc,
If it's not too much trouble would it maybe be possible for you to make her bigger on that CD... the same size as she is on this CD:

http://64.191.40.250/~juliet/image2.html

That would be really great. Sorry, I know I should be able to but I don't have that program and just want to get it over with quickly. Thanks!

Frosty

Oh wait nevermind, you don't have to do it at all. Since I can now import it just fine I can definitely do it myself, doh sorry. Wasn't thinking.

I'm all set, going to go finish the CD now, thanks.

Great thanks! I'll use that one too, you were very helpful :D

Frosty

Oh shoot! I spoke too soon, for some weird reason after I save your images and import it... it loses it's transparency and ends up with a white background :(

This CD you made below where you pasted her on top of that CD with the blue city background was perfect. If it's not too much trouble, could you maybe do that again and make her bigger.... right now she's kind of small there:

http://www.defiantpc.com/temp/mom.html

That would be really great. I need to get that program you're using, what's it called again? So I dont have to bother you guys for help :D
