I am very new to this, having just built my first web site in FrontPage. I have been told that FrontPage extensions represent a security (hacking / virus) risk and that I should use a different FTP program.

What does anyone think about this? Thanks

I have tried using FP years ago, but found it too funny in many ways and moved to Dreamweaver and Macromedia Studio altogether

MS's technology is often being criticized as unreliable and easy to breach, yet not all the claims are true,

however you will find many more MS servers encountering problems than Unix or Linux servers

I'd love to hear, if anybody had any real experience with this sort of things

I've been running FrontPage servers since 1997 and have had 0 security problems. As long as your host knows what they're doing and they keep up to date with security patches you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the input. I'm with Lunarpages - they have a pretty good reputation, so I guess I should be OK.
