The only thing I bought (which I literally had to beat down the massive amounts of people for) was when I somehow made it inside of Best Buy and bought a Sony digital camera for $150 (originally $300 odd some). After that I left in a hurry as I didn't enjoy being shoved around!

It's definetly their best cd yet. Overall it's just a little more mellow than their other cds, but I would call it an improvement.

Well lets start from the beginning. I was one of the losers out there. I got to bestbuy at 2:15 am. Number 17 in line. They handed out flyers for a couple of things that if you had one you were gaurenteed one of the products. But that was only for a couple of products. So my list includes:

Emachine Desktop 2.6ghz for $199.98
APC UPS $4.99
Toshiba 2.4ghz laptop $499.98
Maxtor 120gb hard drive $49.99
12 Pack VHS tapes $6.99
17" Mag CRT Monitor $49.99
DVD Player $19.99
100Pack CD-R's Free
5mile 22 channel Cobra Radios $19.99
Monster Batteries Free
Lexmark Z605 Printer Free

That was all atained by 2 of my family. The other 2 members went to clothes stores and bought quite a few clothes.

BestBuy did a good job this year of controlling things, except they need a rope to control people from cutting in line. The flyers were a very good idea. They also supplied dognuts, good ole kirspy kremes. What a treat. But it was a lot of fun, the usual rush. Yah know how it is. (Looks like I beat ya'll this year)

Ah man...you all suck. Seriously, you do.

Best Buy was the one place I deliberatel avoided because I figured you'd have to use mail in rebates to get the friggin deals. Oh well, I know better for next year.

I didn't get 2 of anything. I should have, but I like other people to have a chance to get stuff.

Guess I was one of the losers, too. I left the house about 5:15 am and got home about 3:30 pm.

First stop was Best Buy where I got my mom a new CD player (regular price 49.99, got it for 34.99, and I have a $5 rebate to mail in). Also picked up some CDs for her and a DVD for my son. I got to Best Buy about 5:45 am. The line went past the Office Max next door, around the corner to the back of the building, then doubled back almost to the Best Buy front door. They had people patrolling the line and there wasn't any problems with line cutters. Once the doors opened, people got in fairly quickly. I got what I needed with not much fuss. I spent more time standing in line to pay than I did waiting to get in. My one comment would be that I think Best Buy ought to impose limits on the number of each item that you can get. I saw people that must have had 10 of the $19 DVD players.

Next stop was Madison Square Mall. They had some good sales for clothing for infants and toddlers, so I got quite a few outfits for my nieces and nephews. Also picked up some clothes for my son, some $10 picture frames (regularly $19.99) for my sisters-in-law (due to our family getting bigger, we've set a maximum of $10/person this year), slipper socks for my son to give as presents, sweatshirts, sweaters, and a few other odds and ends. I think I ended up with 6 bags.

Next stop was the Disney Store to buy some more presents for my nieces and nephews. Not as many good deals, but I got what I was looking for (Buzz Lightyear and Princess stuff).

Hit a couple of other chain stores in Madison Square Mall to get some stuff for my brothers and to buy my Christmas presents for me. :)

Quick stop at McDonald's then on to Parkway Place Mall to pick up some stuff for my brother-in-law and my son. Also, finished buying my Christmas presents for me. :)

I'm almost 95% done with my Christmas shopping after about 7 hours of shopping.

I bought nothing. I stayed home and worked.

Today I made as much money as some of you spent. It was worth it to stay home. :)

Oh well, it was a paid holiday for me. Also, just got done finishing a project where I had been working 60+ hours / week. Haven't had any time to either buy Christmas presents or spend any of my overtime pay. Had to get it done as we leave to visit my family in @ 3.5 weeks. I actually like Black Friday (does that say something deeply wrong about me?). :)

I spent most of Black Friday sleeping, which I enjoy a lot more than shopping. Had Thanksgiving dinner with my friend Katie's extended family; after dinner we participated in their traditional family dominos game at her uncle's house. After everyone else called it a night at 1 am, we went out to a bar where a friend works and spent a couple of hours away from the family. Went back to my place just before the bar closed at 4 (while crowds were lining up at Best Buy) to hang out for a while, dropped her back off at home at a little after 6, was asleep by 8, and got up at 3 pm.

Another successful Black Friday.

Yet another useless phrase that people just accept as a fact. What the hell is 'Black Friday'? Sounds like a stock market crash. Who the heck is the genius that came up with this name? Why was it always 'the day after Thanksgiving' or 'Thanksgiving weekend' before? When did it become Black Friday? Why choose such a dumb name?

It reminds me of the changes in pronunciation that the media loves to do every once in a while...remember when they just changed the pronunciation of 'Uranus' without asking anyone? Is urine-us REALLY any better than yourANUS? I can find similar faults in both...why make a change? :D

As far as I see it, it's not Black Friday unless you are in retail, or care how retail business do. You wouldn't wish someone a Happy Black Friday, it's a term that was derived by a specific group of people for a specific use.

Originally it was used by retail business analysts to refer to the day that, for many merchants, they go "in the black" after being "in the red" all year. The irony of calling a "good day" Black Friday was probably not lost on the people who started using the term. Or the media types who began to think that how many people are out shopping is big news.

It was the biggest shopping day of the year -- it's not even that any more; in the past few years the last Saturday before Christmas has been. Probably because all of the "Black Friday" hype has people wanting to stay away that day... once the media picks up on this Last Saturday Before Christmas thing, and once someone tags it with a catchy name, Black Friday will probably be forgotten.

I figure I must be odd, because I love shopping on the Thursday after Thanksgiving, December 24th, and December 26th. :)
