Wow, this is going to thing. Did you hear what the Taliban said? They're going to attack any country involved in the attack planed against Afghanistan. That was a public warning! I am just afraid that we get in problems there where i live cause we house one of the most important US Naval bases in europe: Naval Station Rota, Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Two. They're stocking on plane fuel and expecting 28000 tons this weekend. :unhappy:
But i am more worried about the thread against US allies. Would this affect me directly living just a few miles away from the base? :unhappy: :unhappy: :unhappy:

If you have not figured this one out already, there will be no one left outside of this struggle by the time it's over.

"If you are not with us, you are against us," has been stated by more than one high level US politician. This is not rhetoric. This is a new global war against terrorism, the likes of which the world has never seen - being led my the most powerful nation on Earth.

May God have mercy on us all and see us through these dark days ahead. There will be no stone left unturned, no nation left untouched by what has been done to the US this week.

Make no mistake about it. You will be impacted, no matter who, or where you are.

He meant, everyone will be affected one way or another.

I never said there would be no one left. I said there would be no one uneffected.

Actually, I suspect there will be very little bombing as a result of this. The Taliban in Afganistan will surely be the target of some infrastructure destruction if they don't hand over bin Laden, but in general terms, I don't think we will see a war of bombs and bombing. More to the point, I believe we will see a long, drawn-out war on terrorism, wherever in the world it lives.

What I said above that you misunderstood, I will restate for clarity.

There will be no one, anyplace in the world, who is not impacted by what happened in the U.S. this week.

There will be no country safe from terrorism. If bin Laden can execute this kind of attack on the U.S., no country can consider themselves safe. There are many other attractive buildings in the world - some even taller than the twin towers were.

There will be no sanctuaries where terrorists can hide. Bush and Powell speak for the majority of Americans when they say we are resolved to fight a protracted war against terrorist, wherever they are, wherever they try to hide, and behind whomever they try to hide. This does not mean bombs, it means fighting - and that can take many forms.

We will all, no matter where we live or what our political affilliations may be, be affected by this event and it's fallout.

When all illegal immigrants in the U.S. are rounded up and asked to leave, we will be impacted. When all U.S. citizens are asked to carry and show National Identify cards, we will be impacted. When you will not be allowed to board a plane destined for the U.S. without making your reservation 2 months in advance so that a background check can be run, we will be impacted. When even a casual vacation trip to the U.S. requires a pre-approved visa, we will be impacted. When U.S. school sponsored trips abroad are accompanied by armed guards or else cancelled altogether we will be impacted.

The world was changed forever on Tuesday, September 11th, and it will take many years for the results of these changes to take their full effect - but mark my words, we will all be impacted, forever.

I understand but let's not jump to conclusions.

Let's see what happens before we say anything.
After all the public doesn't get specific news. We just hear what the government wants us to hear.

It might seem like a war against terrorism only ...but its not. Its a war between the world that is against terrorism vs. the world that supports terrorism.

I agree, I don't really see this turning nuclear or whatever. For goodness sakes, this was so-many terrorists on each plane with box cutters or something, taking over a plane with people that surely thought it was like any other hijacking and would most likely not involve a suicide run into buildings -- and they likely didn't put up a fight for that reason, whereas they might have done so and overpowered the hijackers like it's rumored to have happened in PA. The best thing to do as far as they know, was to sit there and cooperate. I think now, if anything like this happens with a hijacking, it's going to be a new ball game for the passangers and people will likely fight back. I would wage that some 60+ passangers could overtake 4 or 5 hijackers with small knives or box cutters and will do just that if it happens in the future.

That said, I don't believe that so much planning would have gone into such a rudementary plan (nonetheless, very, very effective), if they had any access or ability to access anything like Nukes or a large enough (if any at all) quantity of some biological or chemical weapon. That said, I agree it will likely not result in any exchange of bombings on that large of a scale -- certainly nothing launched from overseas at us. That's not to say there won't be any bombings or attacks, but as people pointed out, it'll be of the terrorists variety and it's not going to be anything of the WWIII variety at all. I don't see that happening. Every country, including Pakistan, that has nuclear warheads, are not going to go up against the US.

I think most countries are (possibly by intimidation or just not wanting to risk it) being reasonable, understanding or just plain smart about it and are helping or not getting in the way. After all, what the US demands, is pretty simple and Afghanistan can simply hand over one man and maybe a few others as they are discovered, if that's the case. With more countries involved, the easier this can be for everyone, including Afghanistan and the less bloody all around for them and everyone else. It's not like the US says they are going to nuke all the Afghanistan or anything, we just want justice and retaliation and rightfully so. Oddly, the only country that refuses to really (or fully) cooperate and are being moron's about this, happen to be involved with this scum bag.

I don't believe anyone else is and for WWIII or anything near that to start, it would have to be a bigger conflict than this, the opposing country would definitely have to have enough nukes and we would have little to no support from most other nations -- and none of that is happening. A few hundred, a few thousand, or more desert dwellers in a third world nation that resort to dirty tricks and box cutters to pull off any significant act in our country, really don't worry me. Terrorists attacks as a result do, like everyone else -- but that's already happening anyway.
Still, don't assume or make too much of this, the United States has more than enough force to deal with this and I believe with somes changes and stricter security around the nation, we can be safe(r) within out own borders at least. We were already vulnerable for this entire time, now with this happening, we are more aware and proactive and that will only improve things in that regard. Terrorism is the worst they can do, and that is already what they have been doing, just did and will continue to do. As has been said and noted, this isn't the US against them, it's the world. The entire world proves a problem to be an enemy with. I was going to say something relevant and important to this post I'm writing and the one's I'm responding to, but I've forgotten what I was going to say... oh well.
