Hi guys i've been online all day browsing the forums looking up information on managed.com and the history it has. Of course i'm not impressed by the company at all.

My new site will be serving game demos and requires a large amount of bandwidth. We are looking for a flexible plan that can be from 1000 to 3000Gb + so a dedicated 10Mb line would probably be the best idea.

We are looking for the cheapest company that can handle the load.

Any suggestions or plans that would best fit our new site?

has anyone heard of bphosting.com

thanks

If your game is opensource, www.sourceforge.net would probably be the best way to go.

This site will be a server for the distribution of big name games not an individual game or open source.

Do you need the server to be managed?

You should decide whether you need managed services right now. Are you able to mantian your server in terms of patches? Do you have the required knowledge to run it? Do you know what to do in the event of a DDoS attack?

Think about it. :)

well managed service would probably best then we do have members of our team that have some knowledge but no extensive experience.

That's a lot of bandwidth. Maybe you could try an nmetered 10Mbps server from EV1:

http://www.ev1servers.net/english/10mbps_series.asp

Prices start at $350 but they are sold out at the moment. Then pay someone $100-$150/mo to seriously manage the server. $500 is not a bad price for a good server, fully managed, on a decent network.

Thanks for the link that looks good, has anyone tried out the dedicated lines on fdcservers.net

They are a bit cheaper but i dont know how reliable they are.

They went through a terrible patch a few months ago. Try and a search and see how they are faring now.

Sure go use FDC and you will move at the end of the month. ;)

You can't be told how bad it is, you just have to pay your money and take your chances.

Thats my 150 dollars talking.. :D
