Shared hosting derives its name from the physical sharing of hardware between multiple accounts. The advantages of shared hosting are the lower prices and conservation of resources. Simply put, shared hosting is more practical for the typical user. However, for individuals and companies that require a heavy volume of diskspace and data transfer or complete control over the server software environment, dedicated servers are the perfect solution. Dedicated servers are fully managed and monitored by data center staff as are shared servers, but dedicated servers are rented to clients on the server basis. Dedicated servers are not shared amongst clients.

Shared Hosting - the hosting account is on a Server with many other accounts.

Dedicated Hosting - the hosting account is the only account on the Server.

"Dedicated servers are fully managed and monitored by data center staff as are shared servers, but dedicated servers are rented to clients on the server basis. Dedicated servers are not shared amongst clients."

I was with you right up to there. ;)

The question was about Shared & Dedicated "hosting", not Servers.

The majority of Dedicated Servers are "not' managed and "are" shared amongst Clients.
