Hi all,

I've done my research and based on what I can find and my needs I've shortlisted two companies

- ev1 servers
- direcnap
- servermatrix

I'm after the following:

- p4 processor
- Windows 2003 server
- Helm Control Panel
- 500gb bandwidth +
- 512MB DDR Ram
- 40GB hd
- at least 5 ips

These to me are the superficial things :D

Unmanaged is a definite...we aren't after any managed solutions. What we do need is the following

Helm Control Panel and....

Good support response times

With it being unmanaged I don't care about the support response times for the small bits...

But for the important stuff - i.e. reboot times it's mission critical they never take more than 15 minutes. We all know there's nothing worse than waiting for a reboot....

So what are people's thoughts on the two above? And does anyone have any recommendations on any other solutions?

I have to say although Josh at Direcnap is a buddy of mine, ServerMatrix are tempting with the fact they offer managed, just in case we did need it.

Last time was a little rush rush for me, so I'm trying with my first windows box to do my homework and research properly :D

What are the reboot times for servermatrix and ev1 like?

http://handynetworks.com Their servers are co-located at VenturesOnline. Their support is excellent and they go out of their way to help you. Response times generally within minutes, sometimes a little longer. I think the longest I've waited is an hour. We have a couple servers with them & I would recommend them to anyone.

Take a look around their site, then e-mail them asking if they have any specials going (they often do)
