Hello everyone!

My name is Jeff Link from IntraHost. I'm also an active member of the St. Annes Peer Ministry Team located in Barrington, IL.

This year, St. Annes will hold its 2nd Annual Dance for Diabetes. Last year we raised over $5,000. We are looking to break that record with your help.

All proceeds of the event go to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. We are looking for your support in helping us find a cure for diabetes.

If you can help in ANY way (be its 10 or 1000 dollars) please do the following:

Make check Payable to: Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
and send to:
Jeff Link
21046 N Crestview Dr.
Barrington, IL
60010
USA

The event is October 8th. But we would like to have the checks by the end of September.

If you are a company, please send us your name, URL, and phone numer and we will recognize you at the event. Personal donations are welcome also. Please leave your email or other contact information so we can thank you.

Questions or concerns should be sent to: pr@sayouth.com.

Jeff has been on these boards for quite some time, and when I donate money, I don't do it for name recognition. Even if he was to donate it in his name, then the end result would be money going towards the cause which is the whole point. It doesn't much matter.

Hmm. Since you're the one acting in a trolling fashion (although you appear to be both misinformed and uneducated about hosting rather than a true troll), and Jeff has been around here for awhile, which one of you has more credibility around here?

Hosting Matters has also ponied up $100 to the cause.

I know Stephanie was the one who started doing it, but can I make a request that people refrain from putting the dollar amounts of their donations in their posts. It might make people like Dynasty feel a bit better. This way, no one will feel like they aren't giving as much as someone else. Just a request, ignore it if you want to. :)

I'll second Chicken's post. Let's not try to seem to 'out-do' or psychologically encourage each other to give more ;)

If Jeff would accept credit card payments, then I'd certainly put a few dollars in.

This is not the usual way to raise money. And I'm afraid I will not be sending you any money directly, although I do support your cause I will donate to the dharity directly.

You may or not be genuine :)

Personally I would donate here instead (makes more sense):

https://www.jdf.org/donations/application-Donor.htm

Sorry to sound harsh but they're are many people (very shallow people) who use charity to make money.

Let's be real here. Because there are some people who do con others in the name of charity, I have been victim to such a scam (later exposed on Panorama I believe) although it was only £2. This is why Pete and I express caution. Let's face it, it is extremely easy to setup a Trading As account, even if the name is well known or not.

Jeff has been around for for a while.

Maybe he has (can't recall at the moment). But loads of people (even the worth of people :) ) have been around here for a while (or a while in the past). Why is he posting as guest?

No offence Jeff. Just got to be cautious :)

Caution is needed, yes. But quite a few of us already know Jeff, and others know us. Not like anyone is recommending that people jump into shallow water, after all, and not as if he's asking people to write checks out to him directly. His post (and the information in his .sig) is all quite easy to verify should anyone who has concerns take about three minutes to check into it. I have no idea why he's posting as a guest, and couldn't care less. His perogative.

(Please note that I am very tired and cranky this AM, having had to deal all of yesterday with teck's so very helpful post of exactly how to exploit a hole in the reseller control panels, and today still cleaning up some bits and pieces. So if anyone takes offense, sorry - but you can still check out Jeff's story, call the JDF, or simply make a contribution and note where you heard about it. There's a lot of ways to make your contribution should you feel moved to do so. That is all.)

Okay :)

Guess this one is genuine. I probably wouldn't have expressed such a caution if I wasn't conned myself, it just makes me sick to think some people are getting away with hundreds by mugging the public.

Way to go Jeff :)

Maybe we'll win the rowing (britain) in the olympics again with this cure.

Has Britain won any medals so far?? :)

Matt, you're right to be cautious - and since you did get burned, only fair that you might feel a bit hesitant. But just think: if Jeff turns out to be a punk, those of us here in the States can go beat your contribution out of him if that's necessary. :)

I believe in population to medals ratio we are doing much better than America :)

Annette

Ah - going for the statistical value instead of sheer numbers, are you? :P

To bring this back round to the original topic (nice opening for that segue, Matt! :)): I think in this case, totals outweigh everything else. Kind of like at Labor Day with the telethon or the xmas season with the Salvation Army - I just keep tossing any change I might have on me in one of their bowls each time I pass, and eventually it all adds up. :)

Sorry it took so long to get a reply back here. But I just wanted to thank all of you for making a contribution to JDF either through teamTREK (St. Annes) or directly to JDF.

I can understand all of your worries. I wouldn't have posted unless I knew that I would beable to get your support. So many other hosts have pledged money to us already, so I'd thought I'd broaden the scope.

I realize how this can seem to be a fake or what not. But I assure you that this is not. All checks are written out to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, so I can't cash them in. We take all the checks, then send them to JDF as a whole.

We are doing this because we wanted to do a service project that got people involved and had fun, which is where my local community comes in. We are holding a Dance for Diabetes on October 8th. It will be a few high school bands playing for teens who will need to get 25 dollars in pledges min as thier ticket it. It was a lot of fun last year, as I helped out.

Sending money through us to JDF will help us see how big our impact was on Diabetes. We can judge how far our impact reached, as to the amount of money recieved and from whom.

Any individual questions can be sent to pr@sayouth.com. Our website is http://www.sayouth.com.

I would prefer not to accept PayPal. The reason for this is the paypal account goes to my local bank account, and from there, I would have to write out a check for JDF. So the safest way is for you to send me a check at the address in the first post.

I hope I will beable to bring in a large amount of money from all of you hosts or individuals. No amount is too small (or too large) in helping find a cure for Diabetes.

Thanks again!

Australia, Australia....oh yeah! With the kangaroos, right? Seems I remember something kind of big going on down there, but I just can't place it at the moment... :)

Actually, with all that open space you guys have Down Uunder, the ratio wouldn't surprise me at all.
